Small Questions v 10027

Aurane Waters would have been born in either 278 or 277 AC (he was 22 in 300AC). The visit to Estermont took place in early 285AC.

I'm hoping we'll get a list of Roberts bastards someday, like in the app. The World Book definitely won't be the source for it, seeing as how it was "written" by a maester. But there are still 9 more we don't know.

If that won't happen, I hope we'll at least learn who bastard number 8 is, since Varys knows about 8 bastards, yet we only know about 7. It's suspicious...

Good point about the 8th. What's the bastard who took Arrianne's maidenhead look like? I ask because I am thinking of the show where Robert talks about "making the 8" We have Riverlands, Vale, Crownlands, Reach, and Westerlands, I list Edric as the Reach.

That was Daemon Sand, former squire to prince Oberyn Martell, now

sworn sword and guard to princess Arianne

. They were both 14 at that moment.

He looks like this:

"Daemon is handsome with a strong jaw, sky blue eyes and light sandy brown hair he has a close-cropped beard."

You are guessing 2 bastards in each kingdom? Where are the Snows? :P

One problem with your theory, Robert never went to Dorne, IIRC Tyrion mentions that when meeting Oberyn. It was something like "Robert never went to Dorne, and Prince Oberyn seldom left it".

He could always have impregnated a dornish lady while she was not in Dorne, of course. But Daemon is too old to be one of them.

I was wondering why he wasn't on her kill list. I already knew that he wasn't on her kill list.

At one point she wanted him dead along with Sandor.

Arya screwed up her face in a scowl. “Jaime Lannister murdered Jory and Heward and Wyl, and the Hound murdered Mycah. Somebody should have beheaded them.”

GoT Sansa III.

Was the wine that Joffrey drank at his wedding ever specified? Arbor red, or just an unknown type? His wedding is coming up on the show so I'd like to know what's the best equivalent to have that night...

(or alternatively, is there any red wine any of you would recommend for this night that is very sweet? I'm not an experienced drinker so I'd like something that isn't so bitter... this may be pushing it for small questions. )

I don't know if the wine is specified at the time, but with some deduction I feel safe in saying that it was hippocras. GRRM says the wine Joffrey was drinking was purple and thats why it was called the purple wedding when talking about the upcoming season on HBO. To my knowledge we have only seen 4 "fine" wines. Arbor gold, Arbor red, Dornish red, and Hippocras, which I believe Cersei describes as purple in AFFC.

Well that was my last guess.

That was before she started her nightly prayers, though.

I wonder what happened so he did jump the list when it started.

Agreed. I just think it's interesting that although she doesn't mention him in her prayers, she did want him dead at one point. I wonder what would happen if she found herself with an opportunity to assassinate him.

Well, if Jaime is going to be a good guy, we wouldn't want Arya knocking him off, would we?

Why was Arya praying that Jaime wouldn't be caught? She couldn't have known about the deal between him and Cat to free Sansa so why would she care if he's caught or not?

SoS

The noise had woken half the Peach. Gendry squeezed into the window beside Arya, and Tom
stepped up behind them naked as his name day. “What’s all that bloody shouting?” Lem
complained from bed. “A man’s trying to get some bloody sleep.”
“Where’s Greenbeard?” Tom asked him.
“Abed with Tansy,” Lem said. “Why?”
“Best find him. Archer too. The Mad Huntsman’s come back, with another man for the cages.”
“Lannister,” said Arya. “I heard him say Lannister.”
“Have they caught the Kingslayer?” Gendry wanted to know.
Down in the square, a thrown stone caught the captive on the cheek, turning his head. Not the
Kingslayer, Arya thought, when she saw his face. The gods had heard her prayers after all.

I think what she means is that the gods heard her prayer because they brought her the Hound, not because they allowed Jaime to escape.

That is one more proof that she bears no ill will toward Jaime, or at the very least that she'd rather see the Hound hurt than Jaime, though...

Forehead smack of the day, somehow that didn't even register. :bang:

Arya does not like Jaime. When she hears that her mother released Jaime, she thinks that it can't be true. She gets even more upset when she hears those rumors in the brothel. It's just that she hates the hound more for killing Mycah and she was praying for him to face justice and die. But if it had been Jaime in the crow cage, I very highly doubt she would be upset. When she finds out about him throwing Bran and crippling him...

Yeah but I think she was madder about the fact that they were saying that Cat and Jaime had a fling and she fell in love with him.

Are the Daynes really a First Men House?

I'm asking because according to the wiki, Dawn and the title that goes with it is given to a knight of the House - which implies that they follow the Faith of the Seven, rather than the Old Gods.

They're said to be very old, so they were almost certainly a First Men house. Since they weren't north of The Neck they weren't protected from the Andals. At this point they're probably not really a First Men House in the sense that the majority of the northern houses are. They're blood would probably be more Andal than First Men.

Do we know why ned doesnt fear danny and viserys as much as robert does? I mean I can see why robert has the hatred he has, but you would think ned would as well to some extent, unless this is another sign of who jon really is or is it ned just being ned? Also, do we know why the hound leaves the services of the king? I understand that the battle of blackwater really screwed with him, or is it that he had enough himself?

About Ned - he was most of all strongly opposed to killing children. He also was almost certain the Dothraki will never cross the sea. He also knew they are not good at siege warfare even if they do.

About the Hound - he got scared of the fire, and in my opinion he was not getting exposed to his biggest fear for this king. He has also never cared much for knighthood, vows and any of the such.
