Casting for Randyll Tarly

The King Of Cooked Steak

Ron Pearlman would make a great Tarly

Mark strong would be an excellent choice for a greyjoy. I'd like to see him as Damphair. If he could find his old wig from Our freinds in the North he would have it nailed. Before S2 I had always pictured the actor that played Craster as Randyll. Too late for that now

I think Pearlman doesn't fit GoT.

I watched him in Season of the Witch recently and I didn't think much of his performance, though it was twice that of Cage.

Has Pearlman been able to do accents?

How about Frank McCusker?

No photo on his IMDB entry, but a quick image search will bring him up.

OR John Lynch?

Both actors are from Northern Ireland and appeared in the BBC series 'The Fall' alongside Michael Mcelhatton (Roose Bolton). I wouldn't be surprised if either hasn't already been considered by D&D for roles since filled by other actors in GOT.

I'm more and more liking the thought of Peter Mullan as Randyll. A great actor (especially good at playing intimidating) and height-wise he would be a good fit for Sam's father (not that it really matters, but it's a plus).

To be honest I thought Lynch would have been cast on the show by now due to his grizzled, northern looks and ubiquitousness on British telly (I initially thought he'd make a good Benjen Stark). He'd be a great Randyll Tarly. Although I like Mullan as well so I'm not fussed.

My choice would be Philip Glenister, (Gene Hunt in Life on Mars). I think he'd portray Tarly's unfeeling, unforgiving attitude very well.

I`ll second that. He'd be spot on.

He would be good and if he didn't want to do it his brother, Robert, is also a very good actor.

I also think Sean Harris would make a good Randyll.

I'm always up for seeing Glenister in GoT, although personally I prefer him for JonCon or failing that Victarion. But yeah, Randyll fits too.

I just watched this scene with Graham McTavish.

He definitely gets the vicious Randyll Tarly vibe off there. The only problem is the accent, but maybe he could do a different one.

I agree.. Graham would be awesome!

Always loved to see Graham as Dwalin, too :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1AOJ9AFTnQ

Big NO to the Governor, anyone involved with that show should be barred from the acting profession for life.

I'll second Graham McTavish. He doesn't look like the Randyll in my mind, but he certainly has the chops to play epic hardass. Him vs. Mads Mikkelsen as Euron Greyjoy would be lovely.

He speaks totally different on Outlander, so he could probably make it work.
