Lady Reds Ruby

After reading how Lady Melisendra the Red Woman, glamored everyone and all into seeing Mance as Rattleshirt and controlling the situation through her ruby, I had a thought. Is she being controlled by her ruby? Who is she underneath the ruby? And is she of two minds? Some of her actions with Jon cause me to wonder her motivations.

Or is she a Dragon under that ruby?

That Melissandre uses glamor on herself seems likely, since it has been hinted she is very old.

But who she is... Her origins are Asshai, meanibg that's where she grew up. But where she was born... We don't know.
