Arya, not Sansa, is the maid that will slay Littlefinger, the savage giant

Not satisfying on its own.

But aristocrats are, from the perspective of commoners, potential savage giants. A knight or a lord, if he does not take seriously his duty to defend the weak, becomes a monster. As a spoiled brat, Sweetrobin is a savage giant in the making. He believes in the old stories, but does he want to be a true knight or a giant?

Even Sweetrobin understands that it was wrong to destroy the snow-castle. His excuse is, "It wasn't me, it was the giant." Perhaps the "giant" that Sansa slew was Sweetrobin's bad side.

I mean, it could possibly foreshadow Sweetrobin's own death, or LF's by the hands of Nestor Royce, (and I am convinced those guys are dying) but I think the prophecy itself is fulfilled. The other prophecy that was paired with it was fulfilled in AFFC, so it seems natural this should as well.

Just my view.

OP

I like this theory, but I still think it will be Sansa who will be the downfall of LF. The only reason I want Arya to do it is, I hate Petyr for all he did to the Starks and I want the person who kills him do it very calculatedly. I tend to think if Sansa slays LF, it is more likely to be an accident of self-defense.

But the significance of threes is lost, because it was Olenna and/or the Tyrells who killed Joffrey, not Sansa. Sansa was a tool. (Discounting theory that Sansa did that but did not tell us by being an unreliable narrator)

Also, FM can only take dead people's faces. If Arya looks like Sansa, she will need to use a glamour. I like the idea that the vision is misleading similar to Mel's vision of Azor Ahai and pretty much everything. However, the Ghost of the High Heart only gives prophecies and do not interpret them, unlike Mel. But most of the Ghost's visons are pretty straightforward.

"I've never been frightened of shepherds. It's the sheep who trouble me. Still, I suppose an escort might be in order."

(Littlefinger)

I was just reading the part When Jamie gives Oathkeeper to Brienne, and she misunderstands him at first, thinking he wants her to kill Sansa. Once she realizes he's still following Lady Catelyn's promise, she starts apologizing, and he thinks to himself that "she bleats like a sheep."

If Brienne is also a sheep, and sworn to protect Sansa and Arya, is there a chance she'll finally meet up with them?

Arya thought of herself as a sheep at one point, on the wsy to Harrenhal with Gregor.

If the castle made of snow is not the Eyrie, the George is spooning us a very well-salted red herring

AWAY! came Ser Lothors shout. Someone shoved the bucket hard. It swayed and tipped, scraped against the floor, then swung free. She heard the crack of Mords whip and the rattle of the chain. They began to descend, by jerks and starts at first, then more smoothly. Roberts face was pale and his eyes puffy, but his hands were still. The Eyrie shrank above them. The sky cells on the lower levels made the castle look something like a honeycomb from below. A honeycomb made of ice, Alayne thought, a castle made of snow. She could hear the wind whistling round the bucket.

On a re-ead I noticed this...

"Godwyn, bring him here," the septa said. The taller of the guardsmen started down the alley.

Panic gripped her throat like a giant's hand. Arya could not have spoken if her life had hung on it. Calm as still water, she mouthed silently.

As Godwyn reached for her, Arya moved. Quick as a snake. She leaned to her left, letting his fingers brush her arm, spinning around him.

Arya III, Game 32

Perhaps, while Arya is disguised as Sansa, the savage giant will grip her throat? I don't recall Gregor ever gripping her throat?

Arya is going to kill Varys during the dance of the dragons on Dany's behalf. I don't have the book with me,but I have seen the foreshadowings, especially after she got comfortable being around the dragons, which says to me she will play a role in the upcoming battle in the South between fAegon and Dany. And when it is time for Dany to turn her attention North, she will be "betrayal for love",because Jon is on the other side and she can't go against him.

Sansa is definitely going to slay Littlefinger when he pushes his luck too hard, and she is going to get out of the situation dry as desert. She is LF's pupil after all.

Arya IX, Clash

That suggests to me that Arya is going to be aligned against Aegon, whom I expect will be supported by Petyr.

You've discovered an interesting bit of foreshadowing here. I see it as foreshadowing Arya aligning against Illyrio and whomever he supports. But most likely, Illyrio will continue to support Aegon, so we reach the same conclusion more or less. We've recently discussed this, but for anyone else joining in, I believe that the manticore symbolizes Illyrio and presents Illyrio as an immoral figure, although I don't discredit the symbolism of fraud either.

Anywho, I believe that Illyrio(and Varys?) and LF are two sides of the same coin: Politicians who wish to carve up the Seven Kingdoms for themselves. In WoW and ADoS, we'll see Westeros split in two political factions. On the superficial level, there will be one faction supporting Aegon and one faction supporting Daenerys. But on closer inspection, the reader will see Illyrio and Littlefinger pulling the strings.

How is Sansa killing Petyr a huge twist when 99.9 percent of readers expect it?

Yes, I don't want it to happen. I don't think Sansa can be smarter than him. Arya might do it, but supposing LF is the savage giant of the prophecy, then I don't see how the same maid is not Sansa....

i don't think that 99.9 percent of the readers think that Sansa has enough guts to do it.

and lol if R+L=J is true, that's no huge twist at all....coz im pretty sure it's the only theory that 99.9 percent of readers agree. don't ya agree?

The difference is that RLJ is never spelled out for the readers while the maid with purple serpents is clearly intended for the reader to infer that it is Sansa. "I dreamt of a maid at a feast with purple serpents in her hair, venom dripping from their fangs." This quite clearly symbolizes Sansa's role in Joffrey's murder. "And later I dreamt that maid again, slaying a savage giant in a castle built of snow." Since the same maid is prophesized to slay the savage giant, the only question the casual reader has is who is the savage giant and where is the castle maid of snow.

it did. and you know what grrm did? he made sweetrobin destoy that ice castle....obviously to divert the shit he intends to do.... he wants people to think that Sansa will kill sweetrobin the 'giant' in a 'castle made of snow'.

maybe she will...maybe not.... i dunnooo.... bec. killing/ending a human's life will definitely change sansa.....just as it changed arya...

then he'll make sansa a pawn of LF, until LF thought her as a solid accomplice. even the audience will think that sansa will be LF's pawn through and through...so sansa killing LF will be a giant twist indeed. bec. i just can't see any plausible reason for LF to state to sansa that his father's sigil is the titan of braavos.... grrm could just leave it out...as he said he had written so many pages of the book that there are parts he had discarded in the original draft. but he did not leave it out. obviously it was a clue...a very small clue....almost unnoticeable.

IMO, it's a foregone conclusion that Sansa will end up killing LF.  How, why, or when is unclear, but I do think Sansa will.  More then likely she will uncover his on-going plot of poisoning SweetRobin and kill him out of spite?  Who knows.  But i'm fairly confident that she'll end LF's life.

Everybody wants Arya to kill everyone.  Kill Dany.  Kill LF.  Kill Ramsey.  Kill the Freys.  Kill Cersei.....people are going a little crazy with the "Arya must kill everyone!" thoughts.

Arya is not connected in any way, shape, or form to the LF plotline, nor will she be.  He'll be long dead before Arya makes her way back to her sister.

Apple Martini made a similar observation a few posts after the OP.
