How do the casting processes work?

Basically what the titles says. I'm only wondering because I cannot seem to find a straight answer to this question anywhere for Game of Thrones specifically.

It works like it does for any other show in the UK.

What is it specifically you wish to know?

How to be contacted when we DO have a profile corresponding for a role and we ARE actors, who have studied drama, who have experience etc etc; how to get to know when the auditions are held, how to get the casting team to look at our resume and pictures etc (they cast renowned actors but also always go the extra mile to find young, new actors when they fit the bill, so..) I'd love to try for Tyene (or Val if she's kept in somehow); I dont wanna spam but I'll copy/paste some links:

here's some pix:

and some rushes of mine are uploaded on the first post of one of my thread:

(waiting for my latest work to be edited, with a real pro team, shot with a RED; plus it's the opening scene of a medieval/fantasic short movie where I am a young peason attacked and nearly raped in a forest; hope I'll have the finished result soon!)

I see you're based in France. You'd need a UK based agent and to be on spotlight. Then you have a reasonable chance. You could be in London in two hours for an audition?

You don't need an agent to get on Spotlight so it is worth seeing if you have the required credits to get on (usually 4 good, professional credits). If you have a French agent it may also be worth asking them whether they have either a Spotlight account or a sister company in the UK who will act for you. Actors without agents can only see certain breakdowns on Spotlight and the GOT ones definitely did not go out to actors. If you don't have an agent there are a couple of agencies in London who will take anyone but they don't really do anything for you unless you push them and they have no reputation among CDs. However one of these may be OK if you only want them to submit you for certain roles. You would need to have a look in actors forums to work out which are legit.

They have been doing self-tapes for GOT so, if they decide they want to see you, you would need a to be able to record or skype in an audition.

If you don't have an agent then you can email Nina Gold's office but it probably won't get a response and I would not advise emailing Nina directly, she is a busy woman. Find out the name of a junior member of her team and email them

If you are going to send a video cold then have a look through the books and find something which you can use to show how you would play the character you are going for (not just the longest most dramatic bit of text). I would say that a good duologue is better than a long speech but I don't know Nina or Robert's preference. Don't demand their time, the video should not be longer than a minute, 30 seconds is about right. Look at how the audition videos which have been shot by request for GOT are staged (in close up and talking to someone sat next to the camera) and try create the same set up but with a better performance. If you are going for a Sand Snake you could even use the audition script they use.

You should definitely get all your stuff in one place rather than having loads of different links. CDs literately want to spend a couple of minutes, or less, looking a each person, if you have to much or it is not set out well they will only look at first few things they see. If you do decide to go on Spotlight it puts a profile together for you. There are other casting sites which do the same but the big casting directors don't visit them unless they are looking for something unusual (although as a French actor you would be considered unusual in London). Get your clips edited into a proper showreel, you can do a rough version yourself or get it done professionally.

Also you might want to make sure that the stuff you are doing is on IMDB as US directors and producers tend to like it if you exist on there even if the CD's don't use it. Maybe get a pro membership for a month and load all your credits, pics and showreel on.

Basically you send your headshot/resume to Nina Gold's office and if you fit you'll be contacted to read for them at the office or to send a video.

For season 5 it's almost done, but season 6 will also have great characters coming that could fit your profil.

The hardest thing in GoT is the accent thing. You probably can't have a French accent in GoT, unless there is characters in ADWD (which i am still reading) that can have some French flavor, style, accent...etc

Goodluck!

Well it seems like Tyene will be "dornished" and have dark-skin; so I was thinking of Val - but no news as to whether she's in or cut; so maybe a spearwife kind of role? But then which scene from the books would be good material (to showcase good acting: intense scene, crying, passionate, fear etc; I also do martial arts)

As for the credits on spotlight the problem is I did mainly stage while at school and then roles for like filmmaking schools, but mostly self produced movies, shorts, webseries, and most of the times the roles weren't interesting honestly; right now the last one I shot could be really good (intense scene, real pro team) but I dont know how soon they'll edit it! Time is the factor scaring me right now..

Re: the accent: if I get an audition I would hire a coach to train me several hours a day, being already fluent it would really be about tweaking my accent to make it sound "native" ;)

I am looking to move to London, but if a casting were to happen for me late in this season 5 casting period I would fly directly over there; but it still depends on the roles they're still looking for..
