Mel finds out Jon Snow really knows something (he grieves for Ygritte about as long as Loras grieved for Renly, a week?) Meanwhile, Dany and Daario, who are supposed to be fucking like rabbits, will have one scene that fades to black. zaphodbrx Posted July 11, 2014 Share Posted July 11, 2014 I don't think it will backfire any time soon.The show is super successful and the non-readers absolutely love it and tend to get really annoyed by any type of criticism toward it. What they as viewers don't understand is that, if D&D followed the book a bit more closely and made meaningful changes that added depth to the show (e.g. S1 - Cercei/Robert dialog) instead of...burping whores and beetle talks,the viewers would have gotten such a better show. Exactly, it was good for what it was.On the other hand ASOIAF is so much more than what GOT is showing it to be.So much potential lost. For the moment yes, it is that way. However AFFC & ADWD are exceptionally hard books to adapt, even if D&D weren't talentless hacks and hadn't butchered every character already. And then we have a small penis joke... I mean I know this kind of juvenile, gross humor is kind of expected but the scene was just unnecessary. It provided no good comic relief, didn't enrich the world (on the contrary, they just mentioned the two songs they included in the show) nor insight to characters. I suspect the viewers were supposed to be grossed out out by the scene but didn't they have enough unpleasant moments in this episode to show us? I turned it off after Maleficent Sansa, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. So I missed the beetles, too. Sandor gets sexual healing from a traveling nurse (one of Talisa's buddies). Gendry finally learns how to complete a certain task, with the help of the little mermaid. Jaqen, just show the bathhouse scene. What are the odds that will happen in season 5? 1 in a million, I reckon. Something we want to see, nope. Burping and beetles, yep. Considering they couldn't even leave dialogue about THE brothel out of scenes, like ever, with Oberyn does make me think Dorne will probably be the Porno capital of the world. Fuck Yunkaii and their training about the seat of the seven sighs, or whatever it is. I'm still not over the fact that Tyrion had to mention the brothel to Oberyn when he visited him in his cell, and poor Varys, LOL, even he got the offer for a visit to THE brothel from Oberyn. WTF?? I don't remember, but I lost interest in all things Dorne once the Red Viper got killed and then when Doran's no plot/plot was revealed, I doubly lost interest. But, Show Dorne, might as well, since Show Oberyn has sex orgies non stop, no reason why a TV Dorne wake wouldn't be full of frenzied sex and random naked people eating grapes.
