Conleth Hill wasn't in those boat set pics with Dinklage and Iain Glen. That means he doesn't head to Meereen.

Ah, thanks...forgot that detail! I'd really like to hold out hope for the Griffs.

Also, more news(ish): http://watchersonthewall.com/game-thrones-prepares-three-sets-diocletians-palace-season-5-filming/. Looks like we'll get more of Dany being sad about her dragons.

Arrgggh! So annoyed it's looking as though Griff's are cut. There's one of the only interesting twists of S5 out the window.

There are plenty of interesting twists in the last two books:

  • Cersei's arrest and punishment.

Brienne being found and nearly executed by Lady Stoneheart

Jaime being brought to Stoneheart by Brienne

Doran supporting Daenerys

Jon's assassination

Drogon's return to Meereen

Tyrion being sent to Daenerys, kidnapped by Jorah, later enslaved, and finally freeing himself and his companions from slavery

Varys' return to King's Landing

Theon escaping Ramsay and being found by Stannis

The Kingsmoot

Barristan's coup

Quentyn attempting to free the dragons

Dany being reunited with two of her enemies, Khal Jhaqo and Mago

Unfortunately I imagine a few of these will be cut in some way (the Kingsmoot, Stoneheart, Quentyn), but let's not pretend that the last two books have no twists. The problem most readers have is the lack of conclusions to most arcs, which isn't really a problem since the show split ASoS across two seasons - most storylines this season should have better conclusions than they did in season 3.

I do agree that the Griffs being cut is annoying, though. I understand the showrunners don't want to over-complicate the plot, but in that case I wish they had just decided to delay Dorne until season 6 and included the Griffs instead. But why keep Aegon, who's relevant to Dany's plot and the history of Robert's Rebellion, when they can show Porne and the sexy Sandsnakes?

I don't know if it's fair yet to assume the Griffs are out of season 5. I'll keep hoping… heh.

However, keep in mind we are looking at this from having read the books. I didn't start watching the TV series until this year so I'm not especially familiar with Unsullied reactions after the other seasons but I have a large group of friends and they are all Unsullied. Here's what they have been consistently wanting since season 4 ended:

- Some sort of retribution for what happened to Oberyn

- Freys to go down specifically via a Jon Snow + Stannis army (this would probably be the most talked about if the Oberyn incident wasn't so fresh in their minds)

- Tyrion to join up with Dany and be her advisor

- Cersei to go down somehow

- Theon to escape from Ramsay

- Jaime and Brienne to meet back up and do it (yeah, I know)

Note: The subtlety of the ending of Mockingbird was lost on all of them except one, who was like, "Holy crap I get why you like that guy now." Sansa is a secondary thought to them, if at all.

With that in mind, PatrickStormborn hit the nail on the head:

With the ones in bold relating to the events above from the group of friends. And yeah, some stuff is probably getting cut or altered.

I'd love to see what other people get from their Unsullied friends, of course! I think if "For the Watch" happens at the end of Season 5 that will probably be the chatter next year.

whatever having varys support dany actually makes him smarter because faegon is doomed as shit. i'm guessing vary's inevitable death will be different on the show than it was in the books tho

To be fair, it would have went well if Tyrion wouldn't have fucked it all up

From WotW;

First up, we have some info provided to us from a source, about a casting for a young woman character, named Clea.

Clea is in her early twenties, and described as a pretty young courtesan with nimble wit. It’s noted that this is a 3-page scene between just her and Peter Dinklage. Surprisingly, it’s also noted there is no sex or nudity in the role. Filming for the character will be September 15th.

Likely a body double as they don't put out public casting calls for stunt doubles.

I wasn't aware of the difference...so, is a body double someone who just plays "static" scenes and a stunt someone who does action scenes?

Of course they're cutting that controversy out...which honesty isn't something I particularly want to see, but it is interesting that they don't seem to go quite so dark with Show!Tyrion.

Or she could be taking the part of What's-her-face who Jorah and Tyrion went to in order to get out of Volantis.

I have actually lost all interest with Season 5 knowing that several characters are cut and several pointless ones are going to be rammed into our face constantly. Adding in 3-4 naked Dorne girls every episode while cutting Aegon/Arianne/Vic will kill the show. I always knew the recent two books would be hard to film but they are shooting themselves in the foot if most of the rumours/leaks are to be believed.

Its clear they want to wrap up things as quick as possible in three seasons but their ending has to be completely different if they take such a quick route.

^No rumours or leaks suggest they are adding "3-4naked Dorne girls to every episode". They suggest the opposite. If Dorne was about nudity and sex for them they wouldn't have cut Arianne, since she provides a lot of it. From the info that's ACTUALLY gotten out, we know that of the Snakes only Tyene will disrobe (only partially and only once btw). The perception among some fans that they've kept the Snakes for their fanservice rather than their Grrm-confirmed plot importance in TWOW is complete bullshit. Though you all will likely continue calling it Porne regardless, I'm pretty sure there'll be less sex there in the show than in the books.

Once more this character Clea described on wotw will remain clothed and will have only one scene. That means she's by no means a replacement for any of the characters you mention above and isn't a fanservice/sexposition character either.
