Risto,

What do you think of the OL trailers?

I have seen only one so far... As Veltigar said, the concept is a bit high-end and that can be quite good although I have always been satisfied with the "woman going to 18th century to find hunky Scot" concept... I am sucker for romance sometimes... As was said, it does look beautiful. It is a bit more colorful than it was. I think we have French to blame for that. I have no idea what comes next but I will enjoy the ride.

Have you read the books?

I'm almost finish with book one.

I put my thoughts on Claire, time travel and Frank in some threads on the previously.tv forums outlander section.

Nope. I gave it a good old college try, but wasn't for me... :) I might go back at some point in the future, though.

Not hard... I just find it extremely boring to read because the series is in many aspects the carbon copy. I have read some 100 pages and there were nothing more. Usually the adaptations are like tip of the iceberg. Not here.

So season 2 is apparently shorter by 3 episodes. Will it still be split in two?

Now that Black Sails is done, I'm trying to determine if I should keep my Starz subscription, or discontinue and resume only once the full season of Outlander is out. If it's even worth it. :D

Well, that's actually really positive news. The first season was way to bloated. There really aren't many stories that can support 16 quality episodes, especially in the current production cycle.

I'm going to watch the finale tonight :) I saw the penultimate and antepenultimate episodes today (couldn't get to them before) and I'm dying to talk about them :D

This is a quality show... I didn't feel like S1 went too long, but I also have no problem with them trimming it down either.... Starz has been on a pretty good roll, so if this is their call --whether it be purely a budget thing, or if this is how they feel they can best tell their story-- I'm cool with it...

... side note.... Jamie's sister Jenny --Laura Donnelly-- is a main character on Beowulf

The Entertainment Weekly February 25 print issue was Outlander Jamie and Clare cover, photo spread inside for season 2, and long feature.  It was scrumptious.  Especially on a day when, unusually for my time of supermarket shopping, there were long lines at the cashier stations

O, here the photos are, online.

Lol. I thought the second half of the season was pretty cringey. We'll see how Season 2 goes.

The whole show is basically sold on the premise of a topless Jamie, go look at the EW cover. Its a bit like mr Darcey and his tight white bulge, or Poldark and the topless elf,  the way its the focus of the promotional material. Theres a sort of reverse sexism that is vaguely interesting at play, a bit like how Baywatch used to be sold purely on the shots of Pams boobs.

Oh, it is not something new. Although, I have heard some interesting feminist opinions about it. We may be implementing new standards of equality these days :)

Haha, that cover and fifth photo. I hope you were reading it in front of some prudes. :)

Well, if nothing, we will see more sex. If everything else fails, we will always have some good old TV softcore porn.

Ha, what were these opinions?

Well, it seems that entire man-candy thing that is going on in Hollywood is actually liberating for women. If media plays the sex card with men, why not also women? And if actresses have to be sexy having almost nothing on themselves, why not having shirtless guys doing the same thing? The principle is simple: Women, just like men, can objectify what they see on screen. Equality :)
