Isis
I bought Graceland recently for exactly the same reason, Billyj. Haven't uploaded the CD yet as I can't be bothered with the hassle for just one album. I prefer to wait and do a whole stack of CDs in one go.I've been incredibly stuck in a rut with music lately, hence I've been scanning this thread for inspiration. Been listening to a lot of Kristin Hersh. I think it's the grey weather that does that to me. ETA: Question: which album by The Smiths should I start with? I've always vaguely enjoyed them but never gotten round to buying any of their stuff. advise me.

Night's_King
Going through your CD-pile is always rewarding. I've totally forgotten about most of the truly beautiful covers. And it is always great to find things you haven't listened to in years. Ser Jake
The White Stripes - I Don't Know What To Do With Myself :D I love the White Stripes! One of the best shows I ever went to. Saw them in 2005 (I think) in Boston, went by myself since none of my friends liked them, had a seat in literally the last row in the building and it was still awesome. Although I was heavily opiated, so that probably helped too, but it was a really great show.
