Small Questions v 10091

Seeing how that title is part of ruling monarch's full title (King of Andal, Rhyonar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the realm), I imagine Dany also styles herself so.

As for others, only Rhaenyra comes to mind - I can't remember any other ruling queens or women regents. Then again, I haven't read WOIAF, so I may lack certain information.

Daemon was Lord Protector Protector of the Realm for Rhaenyra.

I vaguely seem to recall a number slightly higher than 200 for the entire known world, but I'm currently not certain about the source, so that should be checked..

The number 227 was mentioned in the WoIaF book (I just read that bit last night). But the usual grain of salt applies.

Soo.. I'm looking for the quote where GRRM states that somebody is going to the lands of always winter... ;)

Sorry if someone else has already suggested this in the many pages since it was asked...

In Bran's first vision he flies to the Lands of Always Winter. I don't think any one else has been there. :)

"Of course, Iceland is relatively small. Beyond the Wall is considerably larger than Iceland—probably larger than Greenland. And the area closest to my Wall is densely forested, so in that sense it's more like Canada—Hudson's Bay or the Canadian forests just north of Michigan. And then as you get further and further north, it changes. You get into tundra and ice fields and it becomes more of an arctic environment. You have plains on one side and a very high range of mountains on the other. Of course, once again this is fantasy, so my mountains are more like the Himalayas. But, you can always play with these things in fantasy.

And what lies really north in my books—we haven't explored that yet, but we will in the last two books."

Found this, but I don't have the source on it.

I believe Dothraki use regular bows not crossbows.

True. From Game 11 :

Haggo gave her a great leather whip with a silver handle, Cohollo a magnificent arakh chased in gold, and Qotho a double-curved dragonbone bow taller than she was.

From Game 13 :

Dragonbone bows are greatly prized by the Dothraki, and small wonder. An archer so armed can outrange any wooden bow.

And for Meereen, the Sons of the Harpy use crossbows, from Dance 11 :

Your servants were set upon as they walked the bricks of Meereen to keep Your Grace's peace. All were well armed, with spears and shields and short swords. Two by two they walked, and two by two they died. Your servants Black Fist and Cetherys were slain by crossbow bolts in Mazdhan's Maze.

LF was already out of Kings Landings (going to Tyrells) when riots happened?

Yes.

ACOK, chapter Tyrion VIII - Varys reports that Renly is murdered. And idea of Tyrell alliance is brought up, and LF volunteers to broker it. He departs early in the next morning.

ACOK, chapter Tyrion IX - Myrcella is escorted to the ship; on the way back royal caravan is attacked by rioters.

I don't know what's the time frame between these two chapters, but it's sure a lot more than one day.

The Kindly Man appeared to know Arya's true identity when she entered THOBAW. Did he have advance intel? Did he have some magical ESP? Was he able to figure it out extremely fast based on common knowledge? Or was he able to tell simply by observing her face and speech?
