[TWOIAF SPOILERS] what was in Prince Nymor's letter to Aegon the Conqueror?

Recommended Posts

I go with 'we'll give up all our wealth to hire the Faceless Men to kill your son Aenys'. But the idea about Rhaenys is also quite intriguing (and nasty).

I lean toward the Rhaenys explanation. If Aegon caved to the threat of the Faceless Men then Dorne (and anyone else who found out) would always have his balls in a vice.

My vote is also for an offer to mercy-kill Rhaenys.

There was that strange inclusion after Morgan Martell that the Martells have always been cautious... Seems to support the idea that they never would have killed such a valuable hostage if in fact she did survive her tumble from the sky!

That's right, they wouldn't kill her... unless Aegon agreed to peace.

Damn straight!

(Not to get too off topic but oh my god, there were so many instances of Dornish mercilessness, it was amazing)

There really was and it was awesome! I loved how it's actually said that Dorne and the North have so much in common because we talk about that so much even on here. Dorne for real is not to be fucked with, Doran's caution about lack of spears or no.

Porn. Dornish Kamasutra.

D: Surrender or I'll make you do this!

A: Please... I've done that

*turns letter upside down*

D: I mean this

*aegon flies away on Balerion*

Visenya: ...fucking prude... come back here!

What about the fact that Aegon's hand started bleeding when he read it? Tell me that wasn't just a papercut that I overlooked.

He was so shocked at the letter that he cut his hand with the Throne, clutching at it.

The Wyls are apparently the Boltons of the south, cruel and rather stupid (that setup with Baelor and the Dragonknight, even after a peace treaty has been made, is something Ramsay would have done).

My question is, if they had her alive the whole time, why didn't they just use her as a hostage against Aegon, telling him Rhaenys would die if he burned one more Dornish castle?

If they chose to torture her to that point instead, that was a really dumb decision given every Dornish castle, keep and holdfast was burned as a result.

I think the bleeding hand thing is probably an exaggeration that got added in later. Singers or whoever didn't know for sure what was in the letter, but they wanted to stress that he was disturbed by it.

Maybe because she was so damaged and burnt that returning her alive would only incite Aegon further? They may have figured he'd be happier thinking she died relatively quickly with her dragon.
