Horus Ex Machina Posted December 6, 2014 Share Posted December 6, 2014 ...and apparently they're the reason why I can't watch Netflix, Hulu or ESPN3 on my Xbox today (I'm a recent cord-cutter). This is the second time this week they've done this and the second time this week that I've personally been affected. Apparently this DDOS attack that they've selfishly used is almost impossible to prevent since it's not a hack, per se, it's merely an overload of request to the server. Unlike a group like Anonymous who take risks to skillfully hack corporate and government servers in an attempt to do some good, these rejects are crudely attack entertainment servers for ordinary folks trying to enjoy the holiday season or take a break from work. Because they're just as capable, if not more, of being arseholes for the sake of it as doing something actually worthwhile. I don't know anything about these Lizard Squad chaps, though.
