Liaraeyne
My question: According to the wiki, readers have speculated that the language of the Others may be the Old Tongue.I'm curious about the clues that support that speculation, does anyone know? Rhaenys_Targaryen asked which page just before the thread closed. Here is my answer to her: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Others#Characteristics :)
Jon Weirgaryen
My question: Liaraeyne, on 09 Dec 2014 - 7:01 PM, said: Rhaenys_Targaryen asked which page just before the thread closed. Here is my answer to her: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Others#Characteristics :) Thanks, too bad on the wiki page there's no link to the discussion or web page, if there was one, where those readers had speculated. Does anybody remember it? Because @aryagonnakill#2 may be right...aryagonnakill#2, on 09 Dec 2014 - 7:45 PM, said:Jon heard the old tongue spoken and does not describe it the way Royce described the others talking.and when I inflected "Who knows what it would sound like when being uttered by an icy creature? ;-)"I suppose your right, but given that the 2 sound different, there is certainly no textual evidence to suggest it is the same. So I am curious if there's nothing we may have overlooked that other posters may have found out.
Lost Melnibonean
Is there any direct evidence that Stannis knows Melisandre glamoured the Mance?
Consigliere
Is there any direct evidence that Stannis knows Melisandre glamoured the Mance? Just this one quote: “Stannis burned the wrong man.”“No.” The wildling grinned at him through a mouth of brown and broken teeth. “He burned the man he had to burn, for all the world to see. We all do what we have to do, Snow. Even kings.”
Rhaenys_Targaryen
Thanks, @Liaraeye.. @Jon Weirgaryen, it doesn't matter if there is a source for that or not. Speculation on the wiki is discouraged.
RumHam
Just this one quote: “Stannis burned the wrong man.”“No.” The wildling grinned at him through a mouth of brown and broken teeth. “He burned the man he had to burn, for all the world to see. We all do what we have to do, Snow. Even kings.” I've got a better one: “Our false king has a prickly manner,” Melisandre told Jon Snow, “but he will not betray you. We hold his son, remember. And he owes you his very life.”“Me?” Snow sounded startled. “Who else, my lord? Only his life’s blood could pay for his crimes, your laws said, and Stannis Baratheon is not a man to go against the law … but as you said so sagely, the laws of men end at the Wall.So yeah, he knows. Last Thread:The TV show calls them White Walkers for some reason You can blame that one on the TV show LOST, which prominently featured a group of mysterious antagonists called "the others." Last Thread: You can blame that one on the TV show LOST, which prominently featured a group of mysterious antagonists called "the others."I don't think that quote confirms Stannis's knowledge. It could be read to suggest that Stannis was gonna burn him no matter what and Melisandre glamoured him for her own ends.

lady ginger
I don't know if there is another place to ask this, but can someone tell me where to find the other Dunk n Egg stories besides the Hedge Knight and Sword Sword? Are the short stories in Rogues and Warriors also Dunk n Egg? and are there more?

The Rogue Prince and the Princess and the Queen are not Dunk and Egg stories.

Roddy Darwin
Thank youTo add to LM's answer, depending on your country of residence, the Knight of Westeros compilation might have come out already. It is a compilation of the three Dunk and Egg, with new awesome art if you're into that and/or wouldn't read the other short stories from Warriors. Likely Luke
I was on the wiki earlier and I happened upon a page Aelinor Penrose, wife to Aerys I. On the bottom it says "Aelinor was a cousin of her husband, Aerys, and while it is currently unknown how exactly Aelinor and Aerys are related, it is known that Aelinor does not descent from Elaena Targaryen and her husband Ronnel Penrose." How do we know this?

Aelinor is not a descendant of Elaena. She is a cousin by another route.
Jon Weirgaryen
@Jon Weirgaryen, it doesn't matter if there is a source for that or not. Speculation on the wiki is discouraged. That makes sense in a wiki, indeed.
Ramsay's Penguins
Do we know whom the Florents fought for in RR? Stannis and Selyse where not married, but she was present at the Siegr of Stroms End by Tyrell and Redwyne. And in Sams first AFFC chapter, Maester Aemon marks a passage for Jon to read in the Jade Compendium, was it the PtwP prophecy perhaps? Anything else?

Anything else? From the Wiki...The pages told of Azor Ahai. Lightbringer was his sword. Tempered with his wifes blood if Votar can be belived. Thereafter Lightbringer was never cold to the touch, but warm as Nissa Nissa had been warm. In battle the blade burned fiery hot. Once Azor Ahai fought a monster. When he thrust the sword through the belly of the beast, its blood began to boil. Smoke and steam poured from its mouth, its eyes melted and dribbled down its cheeks, and its body burst into flame." Rhaenys_Targaryen
@Ramsay's PenguinsThe Selyse thing, IIRC, is a show only thing. The book left by Aemon was probably about Lightbringer.
