Cricket XXV - The long runup to the World Cup

West Indies batted themselves into a good position until their customary collapse saw 7 wickets fall for 33 runs. SA won easily in the end. Harmer bowled really well on debut -- picking up 7 wickets in the match -- and has definitely put himself in contention for the specialist spinner position.

Looks like a bit of a slaughter is taking place at the SCG. A first innings total in excess of 600 looks a virtual certainty.

Time will tell whether it was a good declaration or not. Personally, I think that it was a positive move by McCullum. Sure, he could have allowed the innings to continue and make the Test safe but that would have been at the expense of not leaving enough overs to bowl SL out. Scoring 390 in the 4th innings is no easy task.

While India still has a long way to go, the Aus side is starting to look a little nervy.

But what a shite call, missing that lbw.

Nah, the bat hit the ground at the same time as the ball hit the pad. There was a double noise- no way he can assume that the ball didn't hit the inside edge first.

Here we go again..India trying to rescue a draw. Australia still need five wickets in only 20 overs so probably still favouring a draw, but the bowling and the pitch are currently looking quite dangerous. Should be an exciting end!
