Westeros
In an interesting, and unusual step for a television show, Game of Thrones will be featured on IMAX screens for a one week engagement beginning January 23rd. During that time, the final two episodes of season 4—“The Watchers on the Wall” and “The Children”, episodes known for their cinematic spectacle—will air… as well as an exclusive, sneak-peek trailer for season 5. Much as we speculated, season 5’s first trailer was due in January. Now the question is, will this trailer also be released online, either concurrently with IMAX’s exclusive or following the end of the run? We’ll have to wait and see…Visit the Site!
boojam
There have been theater showings of episodes before. Red Carpet preview showings, did that start with season 2? Last year Episodes 1-4 seem to have gotten 'sneaked'. When they do that I am supposing its a 'complete' episode, start and end titles, and then on the next one. In this case I wonder if the E9 and E10 will be cut together? One approximate 2 hour movie? There is a natural 'splice' from the end of 9 to the beginning of 10. HBO has the streaming coming up. HBO says they are 'evolving' their biz model. I do think HBO needs an upgrade of their advertizing. Looming in the back ground Time-Warner pressing for a feature film? George likes the idea. I can see Time-Warner eying the latest Hobbit which seems to be headed or 1 billion world wide. Does HBO make that much off a season like last? I mean after all world wide revenues and DVD sales are taken account of? I am guessing not.
tyron
I went to IMAX site and no tickets yet and no list of cities. Big weather news for Northern Ireland:90-100 mph winds expected Friday and Saturday, I hope the Paint Hall and GoT sets can withstand that beating. Nictarion
The Watchers on the Wall would be pretty cool to see on IMAX. Would have loved to have seen Blackwater that way.
The Tower of Almond Joy
IIRC they said it would be a few days before they are listed on the schedules. Hopefully someone will post when it becomes available. We are looking forward to the show. It will be fun to talk to other fans in person. Maybe there will be some get togethers afterward. Do you think people will dress up like a character? This just gets better and better!
DreamSongs
It will being going to 150 IMAX theaters nationwide in the US. Per my nephew, it may not filter down to mid-size markets like Augusta, GA. I've got him with his ears open at work this week to let me know. As of this morning, the list was not posted. Could you ask your nephew to keep an eye out for Birmingham, AL? I would appreciate that so much.
DreamSongs
He won't have access to the full list before the public does, just the Augusta theater. With 150 venues in 50 states, that averages 3 per state. Per the neph, Augusta, GA and Columbia, SC are considered 2nd tier markets even though they are major metropolitan areas. His guess is that I will need to drive to Atlanta, Columbus or Charleston for this. I'll be checking online daily, so once I find a list, I'll post the link.
