Dan shot the dog because it was attacking the research assistant guy (what's his name?).

I'm really enjoying this show, but I have no idea what the hell is happening most of the time. I've thought for a while though that Henry was somehow behind this virus or whatever it is being released, though it seems more likely it has something to do with those mammoth skeletons under the glacier.

Incredible cinematography in this last ep, the scenes on the glacier. Great ep all round really, building that much tension all the way through, wondering what will happen, what will happen?

I bet that boat didn't belong to Marcus.

I wonder if Ron will just be left in that cupboard indefinitely, ie that nobody will ever find him before the season finishes. :)

And will all the catatonic people be stuck like that forever? I can't imagine them suddenly being ok again. Why was Liam screaming at the airport? Just upset by the tension/drama or because he didn't want to leave the island?

And finally, more rubbish science! IgE is not your first line of defence! IgE is known for two main functions: worms and allergies. IgA is your basic defence antibody, it's found in tears and saliva and also in the gut. Why they are even mentioning IgE at all I don't know. Unless they are going to say that the transmissible agent is a worm... In which case: COOL. That's totally plausible and makes sense scientifically. Brain worms make people do all kinds of weird stuff.

Worm parasite would probably fit the transmission profile. It doesn't seem to be airborne and there's the weird behaviour of spitting in victim's bellies.

I had a longer post on my thoughts about the show but there was a freeze/loss so I can't face rewriting it all.

Basically I like the show but feel as though "something" is missing to allow it to transcend into a great show. No idea what - it could be that it's a slow burn and needs more episodes/seasons to fully click. It has been intriguing and looks amazing. I like the Sheriff and the feeder guy as both seem like "bad" people but they are actually far more complex than that. Some of the other characters I'm finding harder to grasp and I'm not sure if they are supposed to be sideshows or that they get a chance in the limelight at a later stage.

I do like how it's ninja'd sci-fi onto a murder-mystery crowd though. As long as there isn't a portal that teleports Polar bears through time to Hawaii, I'll stay on board.

I reckon if people marathon it as a box set it'll probably feel less like it's missing something. Only three eps left though.

I've managed 10 in a week. A great ending could make a lot of things slide into place from previous episodes though.

The box set approach hopefully means an actor hasn't spent half the series gurgling in a corner!

WHY HAPPENING???

Seriously, can they really wrap this up in one more episode (unless it's double length)?

Anyway, this is one of those times it's good to be a parasitologist. :)

ETA:

Hi, Frank. How are you?

110%!

LOL

I hope the research assistant guy survives. He's one of my favourite characters.

Is the bloke in the cupboard ever going to be found? Or will there be a scene after the end credits where everyone else is dead and he just crawls out and wonders what happened?

My new prediction is that they will twig that these bugs came from the dug up mammoth and with that idiot Russian about to drill down for more bodies, the whole island will be evacuated to try and stop an outbreak. But I have been wrong about this show many, many times already.
