'remember me' option on login

Hi there,

I couldn't find if this had been reported before (I did search some of the Help threads) but I'm wondering if there is an issue with the 'remember me' option on the login screen: does it have to be ticked for login to work?

I was having difficulty signing into my account earlier today (after several months absence) so I reset the password but still couldn't login. There wasn't any error message; just that the place at top RHS of screen where username features (if logged in) just stayed as 'sign in' and I couldn't search or post etc. I usually untick the 'remember me' box but I tried leaving it ticked (default setting) and login worked.

So is it now obligatory to be 'remembered' ? (I use firefox as a browser - haven't tried this in any others). Thanks for your help.
