Why is Dorne called Dorne?

Has it ever been said why Dorne is called Dorne but all the other realms of Westeros have descriptive common tongue names?

The COTF called it the empty land and it wasn't united for a long time, so maybe the Rhoynar named it when they came and united it. Did the Andals maybe call it the Sands? or the Desert and the coming of the Rhoynar changed that?

Shapes I'd agree with, although no Dorne, and Irish history is far from English. But it's not based on those regions, simply shape, England stops at the Westerlands really. Bit in the Riverlands.

it is not about being Irish. It is about feeling separate from the people who for centuries militarily dominated and oppressed. The Targs burned almost all the castles down.

Aside from Dorne and The North, folks do not think of themselves as a Crownlander first. They do not think of themselves as a Westerlander first. It is the makings of nationalism built on commonality of culture and common enemies.
