8 Winged Knights

I hope the stuttering knight is one of them, I haven't formed a mental image for most characters in the Vale yet so he stood out to me.

Same here. My gf stutters a bit, especially when she's nervous, so I already have a soft spot for Ser Wallace

They want unmarried men. Michael redfort is married to one of Bronze Yohn's daughters. Although LF would want to keep such a hostage around. Perhaps they make an exception.

Lyn Corbray

Lothor Brune

A Waynwood

Horrible Harry

Michel Redfort

It was specifically mentioned by Littlefinger in the chapter that Harry is nowhere skilled enough to be one of the 8 winners. I'm sure he is capable enough, but he is young and as far as we know he is not an exceptional jouster.

Spoiler on the released sample chapter...Stop reading if you do not want a spoiler.

I do not believe Harry will be one. Does not the sample chapter state that he does not have the skills. The conversation that Petyr is having with the lords, when Sansa goes to him, after encountering the rude Harry?

Yeah, but Littlefinger will want Harry to win one of the places, to keep him around, so he'll probably pay some people to throw their matches.

The notable knights who could potentially attend the tourney is:
Mychel Redfort: One of the best young swordsmen in the Vale, and seemingly a very competent jouster as well. He is recently married, but since the Winged Knights only serve for 3 years he could possibly compete. Probably has a good chance, since he seem like the Vale's version of Loras Tyrell.

Roland Waynwood: He seemed like a fairly confident man, and seem to be fairly tall and muscular. I don't give him that great a chance though, since he might be all swagger with nothing to back it up.

Wallace Waynwood: I like the stammering bloke, but I don't think he will be amongst the Winged Knights. To green, probably not skilled enough. Just hope he doesn't get hurt.

Lyn Corbray: One of the best fighters in the Vale, no doubt. If there is one character certain to become a Winged Knight if he wants to, it's Corbray. But does he want to? Does Littlefinger want him to?

Harrold Hardyng: Competent enough I presumed, considering he won a competition in order to become a knight in the first place. Not likely to take a place amongst the Winged Knights though, if the words of Littlefinger are to be trusted.

Lothor Brune: Clearly competent enough to take a place amongst the Winged Knights. Probably the deadliest fighter of the Crownlands. I hope the stomps Mychel Redfort and wins Mya Stones respect. SOme people in this tale should have some happiness.

Shadrich: Not sure how good he is, but he seem to be competent and experienced enough to survive hardships. Has potential? He might not compete though.

I'm also thinking that Harry will become one of the Winged Knights, despite his lack of skill. I need to read it again, but didn't LF imply that Harry walked into a trap? Petyr has two knight we know are in his service and who knows who else he could bribe. He could have input on the tourny pairings for all we know. I absolutely think that Harry will make it, and someone we think will (Brune, Corbray) will not.

Separate Harry and Saffron, put him and the charming Alayne in close proximity, get to know how Harry thinks and what motivates him - this is perfectly in his wheelhouse.

Their are a lot of men participating in this tournament. 64 at least right? No one suspects any old friends to make a mystery knight appearance? Maybe a dead Hound? Or a BWB covert agent? A missing BlackFish? Does anyone believe Loras is really hurt and dying? This is too good an opportunity to waste on a bunch of no name Vale men. I suspect LF has already chosen his champions and those knights will serve some purpose for him, not the boy. This Mad Mouse is working for someone else--a spy of sorts, certainly someone will have to be there to thwart him? These Vale men need to get a lot more interesting before I can actually care which of them makes the circle of trust. But I did like the Waynwoods--I think they could bring a touch of class and chivalry, perhaps some dash and dare to the group.

There's no reason to think any of those people would show up at a Vale tourney (and the Hound, when last we saw him, certainly didn't appear in any condition to joust, besides).

Does anyone believe Loras is really hurt and dying?

Yes, because none of the theories to the contrary make any sense, nor would he show up at some tourney in the Vale if he was faking his own crippling for some reason.

These Winged Knights will evolve into Sansa's body guards, since she'll need need protection when she reveals herself. Everyone noteworthy in the Vale knows who Alayne is and they're here for her.

That's highly unlikely. They probably care more about the Arryns than the Starks.
