Even placing stuff like it currently is, he's making 80+ miles each day for a month. Without changing horses, no less. No way in hell. That's a very decent speed for a two-day endurance riding competition. Horses literally die out of exhaustion after four or five days keeping up such speed. Because the update won't make it any better, I'm afraid.. ETA: Update is almost done and ready for publication though, fixed a few more problems this evening. It has been a problem from Errant Bard's timeline in 2008 until now and we've never been able to explain it away. GRRM simply made a mistake.
