So they cast all the Freys and Tullys and BWB and then ignore them in favour of sexposition and supposedly stereotypical revenge-filled, unsubtle Dornish plot? No wonder unsullied show watchers frequently ask, "who's that?" The Freys have done something extremely horrific. Bran even recounts the tale of the Rat Cook in the show to highlight this point. The Blackfish has escaped from the carnage at the Red Wedding and he's been set up as a badass. Even if they've cut Stoneheart and the BWB, why not just get him and Nymeria cutting down Freys? Why is the viewer not given even some slight satisfaction of Stark and Tully vengeance? Why leave everything to Arya? Because she needs to be even more badass?

I have a feeling Ellaria is going to get into bed with whoever looks at her sexily ('cos apparently that's what the Dornish do) and replace the sun with several slightly interesting candles. (Something that Cersei frequently does in the books but since that would paint her as a devious, self-centered user which was really bad writing by GRRM so lets dispense with it, say D&D.)

Dorne isn't supposed to be different because they have more sex and scantily clad females. It's different because their conception of women derives from the legacy of Queen Nymeria. Woman as warrior, as ruler, as equal which does not negate woman as mother, as lover, as septa and scholar even. All roles have equal respect.

I agree that D&D don't really get Dorne. Otherwise, why misread the whole Princess of Dorne thing with Doran's mother and daughter. They dispensed easily with it not willing to let the viewer get a taste of the true 'otherness' of Dorne. Instead they are doing exactly what Edward Said accused western scholarship and literature of doing to foster the image of an exotic, pleasure-loving, non-intellectual, misogynistic east.

In season 2 when Myrcella leaves for Dorne, there is man in Kingsguard armor and white cloak behind her on the boat.... who was he and where is he now?

I don't think the show is really that big on consistency. They rely on their faulty memory of past seasons (witness the three children for Cersei debacle) and whatever they remember from the books being blurred into a whole that seemingly makes sense at the time of writing. Why they don't just get a book/show expert consultant to keep them straight on continuity instead of giving writers the end result of each plot in each episode without strict guidelines on how to get there to ensure consistency in characterization at least, I have no idea. Outlander seems to have hired the author as consultant with really good results.

Do you think that no one in HBO remembered about this KG?

After all whoever he was, he was one of the 7 "best" knights in the Realm...

It isn't that the show forgets about this guy - they went to the effort of including him in the script, casting him, costuming him, including him in the shot. But the show isn't particularly interested in how the institution of the Kings Guard works. Further, the show is juggling more than 100 named characters per season. It is absurd to expect the shot to also check in with the unnamed characters that had 5 seconds of screen time.

Conceivably, his purpose was to escort Myrcella to Dorne, and he returned to Kings Landing ages ago. Or he's offscreen in Dorne somewhere throughout season 5. The Kingsguard are not the best knights in the kingdom anymore; he might be living the easy life in Dorne rather than following Myrcella around everywhere. Or maybe he died somehow in the years since Myrcella traveled to Dorne. Or maybe he has a terrible flu during the week of Jaime's visit.

WOW. I feel terrible for Stannis if that happens. I can totally see Martin doing something like that though, and it appears that's the direction the show is going as well. Kill a child that's a minor supporting character--I think that will be a first for the show.

yeah... the show has done a decent job with Selyse's character... she is an unlikable woman who is being set up to be the crazy child murderer all for her faith...the writing is on the wall both in the show and the books lol.

Additionally, Stannis is just too good at tactics, and is gaining steam..in the books he continues to gather more to his cause, and he has learned to adapt, becoming less "Iron" and more "Steel" IMHO the only thing that will stop him dead in his tracks and break him, will be the loss of Shireen, it is the only thing he actually loves in the whole world.

Show cares not for King's Guard consistency. There's been shots where you could count more than seven on the screen. Also been times where you could count the ones on screen and in addition to the ones you know are elsewhere, the total is greater than seven.

A hideous thought just occurred. They've gone to the trouble of casting Lollys Stokeworth. Will Cersei give her to Qyburn for experimentation? Maybe it won't be so bad. At least Cersei will do something extremely horrible and mad for once and own it.

That's interesting. Show Cersei is much less evil that her book self, so I wonder at this, but maybe, since I thought it very odd to cast Lolys if that was the only time we see her. That would at least give a plot point reason for casting her, she will go to KL to find out what happened to Bronn and Cersei would give her to Qyburn. It might make too much sense for the show to do it though, LOL.

Lollys is living in the country, and doesn't have any dealings with Cersei that we know of. She's basically been written out. Why would Cersei do that?

I think Varys could hire an assassin and we would see the murders during a Varys voice over, similar to LF's ladder speech. But maybe Kevan just hunkers down in Casterly Rock offscreen for the rest of the season and somebody poisons Pycelle or executes him for treason during the KL power struggle.

That scene was one of the best and most surprising scenes in TWOW. I think viewers will miss out if that scene is not performed as is. I imagine Kevan comes back in a scene with Cersei. And he with Lancel next to him, instructs the guards to arrest Cersei

Possible explanations:

1. he drowned on the way to Dorne

2. he's in a pub

3. he's in bed with Arianne

4. he's been eaten by a Sand Snake

5. he's training to be a maester in Oldtown

6. Cersei sent him with a Rosencrantz-Guildenstern letter which explains why she's forgotten him

7. He fell into a massive plot hole

agreed. It's actually really annoying how much the show has blurred the line and turned her into a grey character who we're almost lead to feel bad for now for "losing" her children as she has.

She better do something sinister soon if they want TWoS to hit at the end of the season. Or else that's going to be very awkward.

There will be four characters to die this season, who are still alive in the books.

My guesses based on the trailers and released set pictures:

1. Mance (died in the First Episode, and for real).

2. Barristan (missing from the Pit scene)

3. Grey Worm (looked quite dead while Missandei kissing him)

4. Bronn (sadly, his time in the series is done. He is not returning from Dorne)

Therefore, Shireen will be saved from the pyre.

Isn't she about to have the High Septon murdered?

But TWoS isn't supposed to be a fist pump moment, or an example of justice served.

Can you give an example?
