I'm excited to hear his fake Spanish accent! :bang: :bang: :bang:

It's a special family tradition. He can't play a Martell and not have a butchered accent, it'd make him stand out far too much He'd get teased by his peers for not following on with the status quo.

I think it was Lady Softheart who said the Dorne accent is the Manuel from Fawlty Towers accent.

I also remember being challenged on one of the threads when I said Porne was the land of badassery and sex. And then they had Bronn say "All they want to do is fight and fuck, fuck and fight."

Where in rhollors name was daenerys motives at marrying a meerenese nobles discussed, displayed or investigated? It was so out of kilter with her reactions and behaviour up to that point. What was worse was Tyrions apparent drowning only to find him miraculously on the beach having somehow floated through Valyria. He must be a targaryen and immune to disease because apparently Jorah has greyscale but Jorah saved Tyrion without touching him apparently. It was so unbelievable and poorly filmed and depicted, it was terrible. I also found Roose to be really bad at pep talks, if he wanted me to go to war with him I perhaps would like to motivated by a Barristan a la WoW speech rather than told about my mother getting raped at my conception, but hey Roose "has his own ways of doing things" I guess!!!

They should have had a build up with Hizdar proposing a marriage to seal the deal. Not Dany forcing him to marry her or he gets eaten by her dragons. Its strange how they are finally getting Stannis's character right but now they are messing up Dany's.

Their point is that this was her own decision, because Missandei basically told her: "fuck your advisers and do whatever you want". She's empowered, she doesn't need any help. Strong woman!!!

I had assumed they were going to leave the marriage out, which considering she's going to fly off on drogon in 5 more episodes, would probably have been better than a marriage cram down that is going to get about 2 minutes of screen time and came out of nowhere and isn't going to have time to develop any type of dynamic.

But..., they needed to check that box too!

It's part of the important facts like Tyrion going to a brothel or being attacked by stonemen!

And it doesn't matter who checks the box.

Character drives plot, how did they miss that.

4 more, yeah? E9 is called "The Dance of Dragons" and you know how they feel about their penultimate gasps.

I'm so confused why they parked her ass in Meereen so early and yet still failed to actually set anything up there.

I feel like they have done okay w/Meereen overall, in this case to me the take away is the same: she tries to do good and finds that ruling is more difficult than badass conquering and she has, shall we say, a somewhat uneven sense of justice. I think they got that across in the show.

What is the Honeypot thing?

There was a theory back in the Talisa days that she was a Lannister spy and was intentionally sabotaging Robb and leading them to the Twins on purpose and people were all excited about what her letter to her mother “really” said. But no, she was exactly what she appeared to be. That is, stupid.

Given D & D's apparent arrogance, they probably think this is a good model of leadership. It isn't in my experience, neither for men or women.

Also, the Hizzy marriage in the show seems very odd because, in the show, it appears that Dany has the upper hand over the Mereneese Nobility. Her situation in the books seemed very different.

I hope they provide a viable explanation for why this happens in the next episode, because it makes even less sense than LF leaving Sansa with the Boltons.

The other thing with including the marriage, is it's going to make her departure reflect more poorly on her, because ep. 5 she decides to marry into the Meereenese nobility...she's there for the long term..... and then 5 episodes later she is out of there on the dragon, basically giving up on the whole shebang, much more abrupt, another 180 turnaround.

Right. Unless Hizzy conveniently dies, it has the potential to make Dany look erratic and inconsistent. Her rejection of her marriage with Hizzy in the books is much more understandable given it was something that she was kind of forced into.

I can't help but think of that scene in Good Will Hunting when Matt Damon mocks Robin William's painting. He says "it looks like s**t" and Williams replies, "It's paint by number."

That's what the show is: adapt by number. But in the process of making sure Sansa is here, or Tyrion does this, they lose all the important moments that give the books life.

Are you still planning on doing a 3rd installment on Dorne?

There was no good reason to include it.

Yes. I’m not feeling the social media thing this week for some reason. I’ll get to it. I dug up my notes on Sa`id from undergrad, so that should be fun.
