This episode really shows us D+D/ HBO's priorities: torture porn and shock value. I was skeptical about Sansa in Winterfell but it was ok up until the ending of this episode. Winterfell is Theon's story in the book. The forced consumation is bad enough in the book and despite everything Theon has gone through it is still very traumatizing to him.

We didn't need to throw the attractive female lead into the scene for the sake of shock and quite frankly I would not be involved in the show anymore if I were GRRM. Just my opinion but this whole idea that a female player has to be raped to be part of the game really disappointed me. They might as well have cut the house of the black and white and had the real Arya go through all of that, and if we're being controversial at least make it as graphic as it was in then book.

Christ you all.

The show kills the books. You book homers are so Goddamn funny.... Every episode there is always " something wrong".

Bottom line is they've moved plots and storyline and it's all the better than the dragging out of pointless bull shit from GRRM.

As far as the last 10 minutes tonight, you sheep who are righteous all of a sudden, just remember this sets up for Sansa to exact some serious revenge.

Please stop with the knee jerk reactions and " I'm quitting" childish bull shit.

Yeah now she's been raped the revenge will be even better!!!!!

No.

9/10

Really good episode. My favorite parts were Kings Landing and the Tyrells kind of losing to Cersei was amazing. They climbed so high, now they finally fell. It was fun to see Margaery screaming as if all her plans has been foiled. If that was amazing, I can't wait to see Littlefinger(who is more amazing and calculated than Marg) fall too. And Cersei! My favorite character winning is so fun to watch. I know that might be her last victory tho, after that she's gonna fall, seems like Lady Olenna will be the one to defeat her.

Winterfell was amazing aswell. Don't get all the hate D&D and HBO is getting. That will prolly happen in the books anyway(maybe with a different male character). So them cutting Fake Arya out to avoid a pointless rape scene is good thinking. Sansa getting raped is more understandable since she will prolly get her revenge anyway and her shedding that final coat of innocence before she does it makes the scene, not "pointless" at the least.

EDIT: Also, did Sansa really get raped? She never really said "STOP!" did she? They consummated the marriage and Sansa agreed to it, but there were threats and fear and not to mention, crying though. I don't get why people are angry over this but is fine with seeing death of characters, children etc... Some of the book readers who hate the show are silly though, saying Sansa getting raped is way too much when Fake Arya obviously had it worse.

-Dornish fight scene was terrible. Though I liked how Jaime had less trouble with Obara(?) than he did with a random guard. Nice bit of realism.

-Dornish talking scenes were terrible. Seriously wtf.

-I liked when Bronn punched that One Direction reject in the face.

-Arya's scenes were boring.

-LF's scene was fucking awful. His plan makes even less sense now.

-What is up with Roose? Why are they making him such a pansy? He's not questioning Batfinger (and it seems the show is trying to have Batfinger play him... barf), he's not making any plans to defeat Stannis [despite Stannis having a larger army in this version... half the time], he's not calling additional soldiers to Winterfell... he's not really doing anything.

-No North lords. Bleh.

-The ending was... bad, though I already saw it coming.

-Meh on the Jorah/Tyrion scene. I just recall getting really annoyed when the slaver trash-talked jousting, when that's the most dangerous and useful skill a medieval soldier could possibly have.

I'm giving it a 1/10, though I think the episode itself was more like a 3/10.

8 I would've given it a 9 but the Dorne stuff is so horrible! I enjoy the chemistry between Jaime & Bronn but that is it. The sandsnakes are cheesy. The fight scene was ridiculous. I'm on the fence about Trystane & Myrcella.

Other than that great episode.

Arya rocks as always. Maisie is hands down one of the best actresses on the show.

Alfie is amazing. I feel Reek's emotions just like when I read the book.

The Sansa/Ramsay scene was hard to swallow but it's actually less than I expected.

Dinklage is great. Jorah/Tyrion scenes were great especially with the slavers.

Kings Landing was good. I wish QoT would've bit back at Cersei a little more but I suspect Cersei's time is coming. Another amazing actress BTW. Lena is not who I pictured as Cersei orginally but she owns it.

Best part of the episode? No Brienne & Pod! just kidding ... Kinda.

Sad we didn't get any of the Wall this week but glad things were slowed down a little.

Very well said! I cannot stand the absurdity of people complaining that people are "book purists" and not simply appalled at poor writing. Your points are very sound, there is no logic behind this absurdity. Except to shock. The show runners don't seem to understand that there was a logic and system behind the "shocks" GRRM delivered as opposed to what they now are doing.

Thank you! :) I also agree completely with you! Like you said, GRRM's shocks are grounded in logic, the shocks tonight were, well, grounded in the absurd.

Can there be a zero?

So you will of course stop reading the books if something similar happens courtesy of Harry the Heir in the book???

I have no intention of not continuing the show or book series. I'm just unhappy with this development. I will be just as unhappy if anything similar happens in the book.

I think a lot of people are overreacting to the Sansa scene. It's the logical step to get Theon to snap out of his mental place. It's the logical step to get Sansa to reach out for Brienne's help. If they're merging the two storylines, then I really don't see it playing any other way. At least it was as tastefully directed as it was.

I was okay with most of it. I really don't like what happened with Sansa. I don't find it believable that she would do that. She should have already been in revenge mode, not marry the dude you should recognize as a psycho from your previous dealings with Jeoffry.

She IS in revenge mode. I'm not 100% sure but I think Sansa will act more 'adventurous' in bed with Ramsay after that and will make Ramsay like her more than Myranda. Cersei did say her other weapon is in between her legs and now she's using it.

EDIT: I mean, Sansa slapping Ramsay in the face for trying to consummate the marriage would be a bad decision if I was her.

Apart from making Reek watch that was pretty similar to what Khal Drogo did to Dany at the start and she recovered. She needed a mental toughness that Sansa has shown no signs of yet. Can't see how Sansa will get any revenge, though. Maybe next season after this Jeyne Poole arc is behind her. I'm sure it made her much more appreciative of Tyrion in the long run, not that it will do her any good right now.

Not a book purist, but find this victim to player to victim again rather forced with a crowbar rather than a shoehorn.

Still, when I read this stuff (and more) in the book I was repulsed by Ramsey, sorry for Reek, but didn't really care about Jeyne Poole because she was just a cardboard cutout character for whom I had no particular affection. I did care strongly about this happening to Sansa so that must be why D & D did it.

Gave it a 9. All around really solid episode.

I found the best part to be Tyrion and Jorah. They are just outstanding together in the show.

I found Arya's story pretty good this week which isn't the norm for me in the show since like season 2. I've dreaded every time we've gone to her since she's been in Bravos. I feel she gets way more screentime than is necessary. As funny as the Hound scenes were and as awesome as he was on the show, their scenes dragged while having little change on their relationship and Arya at a certain point wasn't going to get any darker from the Hound. There was a lot of unnecessary screentime for actor obligations and/or lining up storylines. I realize it's necessary, but still it dragged for prior. Not this week though we actually got to see way more inside, got more insights into Arya and some skills she's developed, and learned a little bit more about the Faceless men's abilities.

Opposed to a lot of the reactions I thought the whole Winterfell Gray Wedding or whatever was handled really well. Great mood setting with the lighting and the godswood. I enjoyed the interactions between Sansa and Theon despite their awkwardness. Sansa got a chance to show skills she's developed like picking up on Myranda's infatuation with Ramsay. She also showed a good amount of poise in a bad situation and stood up for herself for the most part. As for the bedding ceremony, you know it's taking place and with Ramsay involved so it's important to show where he is at as far as showing his true self to Sansa. He's still somewhat restrained seemingly. I think it was far more powerful having to witness it. While there is little doubt that Ramsay wasn't being genuine about always being kind to Sansa there was still a slight chance he may have held off a bit longer. It was also disturbing and interesting having Reek stand by. I felt like Ramsay was talking to the audience when he was addressing Reek forcing him to watch. I think watching it from Reek's perspective was a good compromise and it may be a pivot in Reek's progression.

King's Landing wasn't great but was serviceable.

Dorne was pretty bad. Although that doesn't mean much from me because I don't really like the Dornish plots in the books really either.
