[Book Spoilers] EP506 Discussion v. 2

Yea most of the dialogue seems unrealistic. I'm not sure if anyone gets what I'm saying. I know it's all fictional but it just doesn't submerge me into the world like it did once before. I can't picture Ned stark or Catelyn existing In a season 1-4 and delivering any of the lines they've come up with these days.im no purist this season I've mostly been able to keep show and book separate, turn my brain off and just watch. Non book readers are starting to notice the bad writing, plot holes and other mistakes.

I noticed this too, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Some people in other threads pointed out the use of "country", "capital", "politician", "pillow-biter", "sword swallower", "miles" (instead of leagues), and "sensitive diplomatic mission" (Cersei's reply as to where Jaime is). These are all things that aren't that readily noticeable, but do kind of take you out of the realism I think.

Edit: Stannis also told someone to "go to hell"

How do you "win over" a psychopath? With any normal guy that might work. But Ramsay's tastes and inclinations are out of ordinary. He's not going to be attracted to sweet flirtation or ordinary missionary sex. Either he has to get a personality transplant or Sansa has to become a Myranda. I think taking her own course and either getting out of there or figuring something else out is what she'll have to do.

Well obviously you don't for very long. Which is why I think Myranda ends up being flayed: To drive that point home.

It is really not clear to me if Myranda is being nasty for the sake of it or if her real game is undermining Ramsay for throwing her aside.

Sansa is going to have to escape WinterFell. How she does that is going to be interesting. Does she trust to send the signal to Brienne or might it be a false hope?

So no one else was bothered by how Jaqen kept smacking the shit out of Arya?

Not really, you join a loony assassin cult, you should probably expect some shit.

The closing scence makes Theon's eventual redemption more powerful than it is in the books with Jeyne. At least that's my opinion.

Yes, I thought the Salon recap was pretty stupid. However bad things are for Sansa right now, Theon has had worse.

Now granted he is a murderer and a traitor but he is broken, Sansa is not.

I LOVED that Littlefinger's plan silenced all the criticisms against him this season. "It doesnt make sense! Dumber and Dumber dont know what theyre doing!" -- booyah. Have some patience next time. Just like when there were tons of complaints about Brienne being a bully and then she apologizes to Pod. The writers stumble and fall some times but they know what theyre doing.

See to me it makes even less sense now.

Roose Bolton is the current Warden of the North. They are an old Northern family who whilst does have their current share of enemies, certainly has larger support in the north than the Lannisters or Littlefinger. Handing Sansa Stark to the Boltons brings anyone who was undecided, to Winterfell. The Mormonts etc who refuse Stannis, where do they go? Sansa Stark - they think Rickon and Bran are dead so Sansa is the next eldest.

Littlefinger can walk up to the gates and scream all he likes. Roose is just gonna give him the finger. Warden of the North means nothing if you dont hold the North.

The only way forward for me in this storyline is Sansa Stark runs to her little birds in Winterfell and lets them know. Ramsay is discovered to be a jerk and noone rallies to the Boltons. Stannis takes advantage of this and attacks with Northern houses who are under the guise of "Save Sansa Party."

On the "scene" itself. I thought it was fine from a imagery point of view. I dont think it was rape in the Westerosi sense. She was consenual, despite not wanting to do it. She knew her duty and did it.

What I did have an issue with is how the show has elevated Sansa from her scared and frightened child image to a strong woman who is playing the game. They destroyed that. I have an issue with how they treated the charachter.

The Dorne scenes are cringeworthy. The entire premise that Jamie Lannister wanders into the Watergardens and manages to get close to Trystane and Myrcella is laughable. Then introduce the Sand Snakes. Apart from being the worst fight scene since Power Rangers, their dialogue is horrendous. They pretty much copy pasted Oberyn and somehow made it sound terrible. Areo Hotah looks amazing though.

My heart broke for Jorah. Learning his father died, it reminded me of when Dany asked about Daario.

If you can't tell, then there's nothing to say.

I really can't. Redemption has to be much bigger than that. "Participate" = he redeems himself? He betrayed the Starks, lost Winterfell, and so many people died because of him. Plus he is really rescued in the book, not like he kills all the Boltons, saves Sansa, and retakes Winterfell.

I really wanted to see more of Hotah. The Sand Brats were a waste of scenery. "Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken" they chant as they prepare to seize and murder an innocent girl (who happens to be the ward of their king). Oberyn would roll over in his grave - as much as he hated Tywin Lannister, he seemed to hold no ill-will toward Myrcella or personal dislike for Tyrion (which makes sense, since Tyrion was a child at the time Elia Martell and her children died, and Myrcella was not even born). I couldn't believe there were no guards at the entrances of the Water Gardens at least, what with the Heir of Dorne and his betrothed wandering about unescorted in the place. :dunno:

That's the first time I've seen someone complain because the KM does hit and beat her in the books on different occasions.

Anyways, TBH I'm not that surprised by the scene because the reasoning as to why it wouldn't happen didn't make sense to me. That Sansa is a great player and she'll manipulate him into doing what she wants and he won't hurt her. IMO that's not logical with a character such as Ramsay. I admit I laughed when either Roose or LF said that Ramsay was smitten with her. So her storyline already came off as ridiculous to me before this especially with as I said the belief that she would coax him into liking her like Margaery did Tommen.

does think that ramsay knows about the candle in the tower thing?

That's what I'm thinking too. That scene where Sansa's crying in the next episode. Doesn't it look like the scene where Sansa first met Myranda(tower Bran fell, where the candle is)? Except it's snowing like crazy.

Also, why else would Sansa cry? I know she was a crybaby but not anymore. Of course she cried during her rape scene, but only because it was her first time and she didn't exactly like the guy that'll deflower her.

Also, when Sansa said "My family still has friends in the North." to Theon. It felt like she still has ALOT of hope left in her. But Ramsay crushed it on the scene where she's crying.

Yeah, I neglected to say that.

Loras surely knows his best chance is by far a trial by combat, the question is who will the faith chose? Same question but for Cersei's

With the way the show's going, probably Lancel... which could ruin him testifying against Cersei.
