There was quite a lot of disgust with the endless Theon torture porn at the time. However you are right about double standards. Because IT DOES ADD SOMETHING to his plot and development. Because that's the bottom he reaches before raise up. That's one of the situations in which a rape is portrayed in a way it helps to the plot. And, GRRM doesn't get Tyrion raped: he's the one who forces himself to a prostitute who has no name or no face. He's not showing us her story because she uses her as a plot device. And that's ok. A minor character, male or female, can be used like this. Tyrion, the main character, lives with the consequences and the development. And of course, they cut it. They cut every single situation that portrays Tyrion negatively. They kept, whatsoever, all the mistakes Dany is making in Meereen. Tyrion gets a nice clean whitewashing... Dany, of course, doesn't. If you cared a lot about Theon's torture storyline, why didn't you speak out? Or if you didn't care, why do you care now that people are speaking out? You can't control what people will be outraged about. Besides, it's been talked about already. The dumb show was apparently comfortable enough to waste endless time showing the torture porn of Theon while gutting other characters' storylines. Now they take it to a next level by having a female main character raped that is not raped in the books by gutting her whole story arc and characterization. And even then there was a lot of complaints about the torture porn at the Dreadfort, at the very least because it was a waste of valuable screen time. Of course he'd want to save Sansa, the girl he had a crush on growing up. And of course there's other people around who would want to help Sansa. She's "worth" saving because she's a Stark. Jeyne wasn't, which was the whole point. And a point that D&D apparently agreed with too. Yes. Thank you. That's the freaking point. ANYONE would save Sansa Stark. No one would lift a finger for Jeyne Poole. Theon did. And if they ever find out, Theon is dead. He didn't mind. He had enough and saved Jeyne Poole.
