Filler? The couple meeting Dany? Have you read the books?

Yes I have.

Dorne so far certainly looks like a filler and Sam-Gilly feels like that at least.

I know it's Tyrion and Jorah. So what? Isn't it allowed to call two people a couple?

There was more Egg in this episode than all the omelets on a cruise ship.

Winterfell* - intriguing and good, but the plot really didn't move.

Camp Stannis* - intriguing, but nothing really happened. (is Balon's leech trying to be retconned?)

Wall - Aemon's stuff was good, nice to see Ghost, the defending of Gilly was different, I thought the Fat Pink mast scene was done well.

King's Landing - Carol doesn't do it for me. Pyrce was great, but his scenes were a bit long for the information provided.

Dorne* - I mean, it wasn't offensive, but nothing really happened. But good Lord we're what, 400 minutes into the season with less than three minutes of Doran in any scene?

Meereen - interesting, yet weird Jorah and Tyrion are known. We'll see how it plays out, but I think it would have been better to hold that off until 5.09, but at least this story moved.

Probably an 8/10. It felt a lot like 5.02 to me.

Don't you think the meet of Tyrion and Danny so underwhelming?

Ehh i expected it tbh. I loved Dany's face actually. It was both disgust because Jorah, and sheer shock because Tyrion. I really enjoyed her stuff this week. Her look of absolute disgust at Daario's mention of pulling a Red Wedding was gr9. Shes like "bruh, thats fucked up!" Just wait until she finds out from Tyrion about the actual Red Wedding!

(is Balon's leech trying to be retconned?)

A 9/10. I mark it down because of overuse of Chekov Olly (every two seconds the camera panned back to him I mean come on, even the Unsullied watching with me are like "Ok who the hell is this kid??"), the entire thing with Edd being a dissenter now, along with some minor things...

I have to say though, I was very impressed by the episode overall and it's by far my favorite this season.

I still cannot bring myself to give this more than 7/10.

A blend of good and bad scenes. I liked that Tyrion managed to make his way to Dany, and how he convinced the slaver to buy him, but I didn't like the setting. So small, everyone is walking. The likes of those great masters should not be walking.

I liked Sansa and Theon, but it's conclusion was a bit disappointing. And Brienne's 5 sec scene was useless.

I liked the High Sparrow and Cersei, and also Margaery and Cersei.

Didn't like Olenna's shit threats and her and Littlefinger.

Porne is back. Those scenes were once again useless, though Tyene is pretty sweet to look at.

I liked Sam and Gilly, and I'm glad Ghost had something to do. Also liked Stannis.

Gave it an 8

Reasons it wasn't a 10:

The sand snakes. I really didn't think they could get any more ridiculous but they proved me wrong.

Don't get me wrong I want Bronn to live & I hope that was really an antidote but why? Why poison the man, show him your boobs, & give him the antidote? Am I missing something?

Ghost: loved seeing him by where has he been? Why isn't he with Jon? This show makes plenty enough money to show him more often.

All the rest was good IMO. Loved Sansa & Theon. Looks like Sansa is going to have to save them both. Sansa manipulating Ramsay is excellent.

Tyrion getting to Dany!! Yay!

Myrcella & Jaime was decent.

Olenna & HS - Loved it. HS is phenomenal.

Poor Sam :(

Stannis had better not listen to that evil bitch. Glad he told her to get out.

Cersei arrested! :lmao:

All of the high grades surprise me. I give it a 7.

What was the point of the Dorne jail scene? Let's poison him, then show boobs, then give antidote. Why?

Did Jaime think he knew Myrcella, did he think she would just suddenly listen to him?

I actually cringed, thinking Gilly was going to be raped. Another rape! She wasn't, but to think the writers almost went back to that well AGAIN is bothersome to me.

Look! The Boltons are cruel. Gosh, who knew.

Yay ghost, but where did he go? Did he disapparate? Did nobody think to look for him?

Cercei in jail. I wanted more gnashing of the teeth.

Parts of the episode just seemed so unfinished. I was left somehow expecting more and getting less.

The Good

- Theon is still Reek
- Boltons are Flaying people

- The Slave Auction

- Emilia Clarke showing some sort of emotion

- The High Sparrow actually bringing up the smallfolk

- Cersei's imprisonment (if the implication is the HS knew about Lancel's confession the whole time)

The Bad

-Sansa calling Ramsay a bastard (wow, she's so empowered now! And smarter than ever!)

-Aemon dying w/o referencing Dany being AA/TPTWP (seriously? You had him talking to Egg and everything! How do you not include that?)

-Mel suggesting they sacrifce Shireen (gee, sure didn't see THAT coming, it's not like they "foreshadowed it" every time she was onscreen)

- Danaerys meeting Jorah and Tyrion (that whole scene happened because "the plot needed it too")

-Tormund Giantsbane getting his chains taken off. Again. (So when Jon undid Tormund's chains the first times, did that scene end with Jon going "alright that was suitably dramatic but now it's time to put those cuffs back on" and Tormund going "sure after being chained up for weeks what's a few a more days in the grand scheme of things?")

- The Margery and Cersei parallels (unlike everything above, this isn't a flaw persay, but IMO setting up a Marg as a villain/Cersei 2.0 down to them saying the same friggin lines kinda cheapens both characters. AFFC this is not)

-Cersei's Imprisonment (If the implication is the HS using Lancel's confessions was somehow influenced by Littlefinger)

The WTFITS

-Porne scenes (Good God this is terrible. What they hell was going on in the Jamie/Myrcella scene? WHy were they acting like father and daughter? Ono of them doesn't even know and the other one has never acted as a parental figure for obvious reasons. Furthermore, what was the point of getting Bron poisoned if he was immediatly g oing to get the antidote? Why is Tyene acting like Nymeria Sand? WHO THOUGHT ANY OF THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA???)
-Sam and Gilly (Is there some new rape quota that has to be filled per episode? Also, way to play off the just-almost-raped-but-still-most-definatley-previously-raped-by-her-father-there-is-no-way-she-doen't-have-psycological-issues Gilly getting with Sam as good thing)
-Tommen throwing a Joffrey tantrum ("They imprisoned my beleoved Queen and CAN'T DO ANYTHING!!!!" Dude, you were at the hearing. You were there when the bathrobe nazis grabbed your queen. Your Kingsguard were MOVING TO STOP THEM. And what did you do? You told them to stand down! Little twat.)

All in all, I've come to the conclusion that when D&D write an episode the show becomes a parody of itself. Though maybe that's because we were treated with not one but two Dorne scenes.

I gave it a 9 out of 10, basically because the acting and writing was pretty good this time imo. We're really close to the climax so as the tension is set we are having a lot of awesome politics scenes such as the King's Landing ones. The performances by Diana Rigg and Jonathan Pryce slayed stunningly. Sophie and Alfie never disappoint either.

Love the way they're trying to show how ferocious and threatening winter comes in the northernmost places at the time, seems adequate for what's to come.

Dorne and sand snakes were the only scenes meh, the other storylines were widely more solid. I was expecting to see Braavos however, as the title of the episode was 'The gift' but I guess It's for the next time.

actually gave it an 8. wanted to go 7.5, but since that's not an option , I rounded up.

quite a few more things in it to like, then dislike. Stannis has better quotes then that, right from the book about his march that he could use. that was weak writing in that tent. the Gilly rape stuff got on my nerves, because enough is enough. other then that. pretty good

They've decided to scratch prophecies in the show.Nothing new here.

It was good.I've always imagined how it will be done in the books.Well George D&D beat you to it.Your own fault.
