Myrcella is the smartest Lannister...I shall marry Trystane Martell - beware spoilers abound

Recommended Posts

the moment Myrcella met with Jamie i knew she was going to be the new young Queen Cersei had to deal with...

can we accept that Myrcella wants to be queen and that the Martells will support her claim...or will Myrcella and Dany come to blows over the Iron Throne

and now the game truly begins...

discuss

Myrcella will never have anyone try to crown her.

And no one will want her.

i disagree lannisters will want her to take usless tommens place and dorne will support her...

why wouldn't she be as good a queen as tommen is a king

i believe that with jamie on her side and dorne backing her she is the most powerful person in westeros to be queen

Trystane will support it because he loves her. I personally believe Doran has a plan to marry him to Daenerys though. Their betrothal will end, Jaime will take Myrcella to KL and that's when Doran will inform his son of his intentions, probably to placate him when Trystane is up in arms about his "lover" being sent away.

though i understand where your feelings come from i disagree...i believe that whether trystane is a martell or aegon the targ, doran wants him to be king on his own not with dany...i don't believe that trystane is the burned brother reborn...i believe that doran wants trystane and myrcella to go to rule kL and rest of seven kingdoms together...

eta for the spelling and grammar gestapo

I think the plot of putting Myrcella on the throne will definitely be coming from Doran (instead of the Sand Snakes). Or, perhaps he'll convince them to join him in his scheme.

Why not marry them straight away then? In the previous episode where they were together, Trystane was going to ask his father to let them get married? (I keep forgetting if they're not of age or some other thing in the show, since ages have been changed...)

Yeah, if they decide that crowning Myrcella (and therefore Trystane) was always Doran's end-game, this will likely be a plot hole. - No way to be certain if that is the direction they're going to take yet though. Without Arianne and Quentyn, it's difficult to be certain what Doran's planning until they show us for certain.

Me too. We don't know show!Doran well enough to say he has the same motives as his book counterpart. Queenmaker is interesting and fits also with him not having any heirs other than Trystane.

i think tha not showing us arianne and quentyn makes it easier for the myrcellla trystane gambit to be real...and i also believe jamie will support her claim

Maybe they'll make it that Doran's original plan was Dany-Trystane, but because in the show everyone has Twitter, he finds out she married Hizdahr, so he goes with Plan B, Myrcella and Trystane.

That would explain why he was delaying their marriage, because he was waiting for Dany to get her shit together and get to Westeros.

I haven't seen this episode yet - but I have thought its been heading exactly there this whole season. Doran's Dornish plot, for show, has been simplified to Doran wishing to supplant Tommen with Myrcella, because if Myrcella and Twystane remain happily married it gives the Martells joint ownership of Southern Westeros with the Lannisters.

And he will, at some stage, have the talk to Ellaria and the Sandsnakes that he had to Arianne in the books, basically, 'don't be such hotheads, uncle Doran knows what he is doing.'

Jaime is smart enough to realize that pitting Myrcella against Tommen in a fight for the throne would kill them both, just as Tyrion did in ADWD.

Crowning Myrcella might be Doran's plan, although he referred to the Lannister/Martell combo as a "dangerous" one.

Also, if Doran's long game is revenge against the Lannisters, why would he agree to a Myrcella/Trystane union to back for the throne? Wouldn't Lannister and Martell blood mingling be repulsive to him? Also, if he's aware of the rumours as to Myrcella's parentage, I doubt he'd marry his son off to a bastard born of incest. Even if he didn't personally object to her parentage, surely he would be concerned about the blowback for Trystane if his wife's legitimacy was constantly being called into question and about the long-term prospects for marrying his son off to someone whose claim to the throne was shaky at best.

With all that said, Book Doran's long game was a Targaryen/Martell union on the Iron Throne, originally Viserys/Arianne and then (seemingly) Aegon/Arianne. Aegon and Arianne don't appear in the TV show, but we do have a Martell heir (Trystane) and a Baratheon, not Targaryen, with a claim to the throne that seems to be as shaky as Aegon's, if for different reasons (Myrcella). Maybe TV Doran's plan is a genderswapped Aegon/Arianne, with Myrcella as the "Aegon" (the one with a fictitious claim to the throne) and Trystane as the "Arianne" (the Martell heir). So I could see a scenario where TV Doran's long game is Trystane/Myrcella, even if I'd have issues with it for the reasons I mentioned.

yes book doran might not support this scenario but show doran would, IMO...particularly if jamie and he are able to make an alliance ...

the two young people are in love so it makes them stronger

i am convinced dorne has a part to play and i don't believe it is the sand snakes... and i don't believe jamie is going back home...perhaps the tyrells will help out since their heir and queen are in danger...

I really don't like her, no respect for her 'uncle'.

Kids these days.

Well, that sentiment, I think, is exactly the point of the Sandsnakes - kind of justifies them being so brash and badly acted :D Damn hot-headed kids, wanna change the world before they understand it - not that I have never been there myself :)

Living with painful gout has made Doran somewhat forgiving - he is in the books also. Besides, what if he only wants to get Myrcella on the throne as a means to get his son in control? What if Trystane is playing Myrcella?
