Best and Worst casting choices.

Lord Neddard Stark

Out of the entire cast, which ones do you think were the best choice and which ones do you think were the worst ?

My best has to be

-Eddard Stark - Sean Bean

-Stannis Baratheon - Stephen Dillane

-Visery's Targaryen- Harry Lloyd

-Catelyn Stark - Michelle Fairley

Worst

-Robert Baratheon - Mark Addy, great performance just nothing like I pictured him.

-Petyr Baelish- Aiden Gillen. Not a fan of the over the top portrayal.

-Daenerys Targaryen- Emilia Clarke. Just a very weak actress overall

While Addy is shorter than book Robert, when we actually met Robert Baratheon in the novels, he was WAY past his prime, and Ned had noted how he had put on like 9 or 10 stone of weight (125-140 pounds) and had grown a beard to cover up his multiple chins. I thought Addy captured the personality of Robert.

What ?! He's only 25 lol

His hairline is really receding, so he definitely looks older than his age. However, not as old as Rory McCann. (McCann grew on me as the Hound as well)

Still, other than 7'1" Conan Stevens in Season 1, I thought the guys playing The Mountain were too short (the Halfthor guy is "only" 6'9") or did not have enough presence (Ian Whyte).

I find it hard to give credit to Hathor being only 150 lbs, perhaps when he was 10/12. He's been a strongman for 4/5 years.

But I think he is the easily the best Mountain, strongmen tend to look a lot older than they actually are, due to the stresses they out their bodies through. At his 'heavy' weight, he is 440lbs, which is perfect. Over 100lbs heavier than either the first two.

I thought the first mountain was a lot better really.

Daenerys is way on top of the worst casting.

At times I wonder why they were so lazy that they couldnt find a single blond actress in the entire world to play her.

Probably after the first Daenerys casting didn't work out, they were like "Bring me anyone who is british and can do nude. Go".

Her weird wig, stone faced acting, very ameteur acting gets to my nerves sometimes.

Others in my list

Daario 1.0 - Weird expressions. Acted like he was in a porno and someone was contantly giving him a bj.

Shae - Why is she even a top prostitute? A hotheaded unattractive bitch, who from what we have seen cant even make love well. No manipulative characteristics like Ros.

I thought Richard Madden was excellent as Robb - made the RW that much harder to watch. Charles Dance was a fantastic Tywin. Pedro Pascal as Oberyn was very good too. Dinklage is great. I think Maisie Williams (Arya) is a great actress, especially for her age. Alfie Allen is a tremendous actor even if he looks absolutely nothing like Theon Greyjoy. Dillane IS Stannis.

Shae was awful. Kit is okay, while I've found Emilia's performance to be consistently underwhelming since season one. The Sand Snake actresses... well, no comment. Puke. Besides the hot one.

Too many great ones to list. The cast is one of the truly great aspects of the show.

However the constant recasts irks me. Especially Dean Charles Chapman coming back to life.

Conan Stephens WAS the mountain. Halfthor seems like a cool guy but he´s not the same. Also I prefer the new Dario. Neither of them is very true to the character in the books but the new one actually plays a very cool character while the old one plaid a swaggering cock.

I like: Ned, Catelyn, Robb, Arya, Sansa, Bran and Rickon (who might be recast now if has more substantial role)?

I didn't like Kit for Jon Snow. Kit is handsome guy but I actually felt Jon Snow should be younger, hair less curly and Kit always has the same expression on his face as he both tries to give inspiration speech, broods, in love, or otherwise.

Didn't like Renly.

Daario recast I like. I actually prefer this version to his sleazy book version, I can totally believe how Dany would fall for such a guy, a charming rogue/bad boy, while book version got me an ick factor (same as for Euron), he was just so sleazy and disgusting, I just couldn't believe that Dany would fall for such a guy. Actually Daario 1.0 gave me the same feeling as the book version, if they just colored his hair weird color he would have been picture perfect.

I understand where you're coming from, the actor is pretty likable and charismatic. But it just doesn't make sense that he's charming and courteous. He wasn't brought up at court, he's a sellsword who makes his living by killing. I don't really care that much about the character but it's a bit distracting how out of place he looks in the role. I think he's basically a bit of eye candy for the women, like Dan's actress is for the men.

I think other than the age of many of the younger characters most of the roles have been adequate at the least.

I'd say Emilia Clarke has gone down hill as Dany has developed and required more range. Stannis is probably my personal least favorite. It could just be the shows interpretation, but I haven't seen that jaw clench once.. Iwan Rheon is a great actor, but I do wish he was vulgar, gross, and unpredictable instead of cunning, plastic smiled, and psychopathic. I wish Catelyn didn't look 50 either

Davos, Jaime, Varys, Ned, Cersei and many more have been excellent choices

Best

-Eddard Stark - Sean Bean Couldn't agree more. Before there was ever a show I thought if they made a show/movie he would be perfect.

-Stannis Baratheon - Stephen Dillane-Did a great job with the material given

-Visery's Targaryen- Harry Lloyd agreed

I would add:

-Joffery baratheon-Jack Gleeson I think he was great as Joffery.

-Peter Dinkladge- Tyrion Lannister Can you name an actor that could have played Tyrion better?

-Jerome Flynn- Bronn great

Worst: Most of the actors are actually pretty good. (they may not always have the best material to work with)

-Robert Baratheon - Mark Addy Addy's acting was fine but I just can't picture him as having ever been a great warrior. It is just too far removed from the books. I still have no idea why he was cast.

-

A couple I disagree with

-Catelyn Stark - Michelle Fairley Ok but I pictured her a lot different. Not one of the best

--Daenerys Targaryen- Emilia Clarke - I think she has done ok. Honestly Dany's character can be a bit trying in the books anyway. I think she captures the beauty that Dany is supposed to show. Not one of the worst.

Worst: Can it get worse than the Sand Snakes? I'll take Shae a thousand times over the Dornish Three Stooges.

The writing for the Sand Snakes was pretty awful. I think the writers had a lot to work with talent wise but the entire Dorne story line was just bad. Even Jamie and Bronn came off as corny and I love their characters/performances for the most part.

Yep, I forgot about Jack Gleeson, great actor, actually made Joffrey interesting to watch.

Peter Dinklage I disagree with. See, I think that Tyrion's character is so much different from the book counterpart that I couldn't really put him on the list.

somehow it's a pity.. I knew Keisha Castle-Hughes from The Almighty Johnsons. I really liked her acting there but as Obara it's awful :/
