They did not earn the burning of Shireen, so I simply rolled my eyes at the decision. And Arya was actually boring. The Wall was good though. Yep, a 5 is the best I can do. Sorry to disagree but the book i read and what you read must be totally different.. Not sure how this poorly done version represents of the pit from the book where Danny takes a whip and subdues Drogon after almost being burnt to death and this weird version of 100's of bad guys waiting for there turn to rush the two warriors defending danny then in the middle of who's turn is it Danny walk slowly to drogon and gets on him and fly's off into the sunset. johnnysd Posted June 8, 2015 Share Posted June 8, 2015 Well starting with Jon why is he on the wrong side on the wall? He was on a ship, he was heading back to east watch, where he left from. So WTF is he doing on the wrong side of the wall? Was this to show how Jon is defending the Wildlings, because Kit gave us snarling face. Grrr I am so angry. Jon of course is standing up for the Wildlings, instead of charging them a toll, and later blackmailing them with starvation, you can have an onion, a rotten apple or work for me. He could of asked them claiming common cause, but he went right to blackmail. His heroic raid at Crasters, his killing of the Thenns at the battle of the wall, his rescue mission to Hardhome where he saves thousands of Wildlings, but oh feels guilty because he didn't save them all. In the books he didn't save any of them and many of his men died trying to get there, and he never went or killed an Other. Then on the other hand Dany abandons all her friends while there are still a lot of Harpies in the pit, who have her friends surrounded. The pit scene came off as very anticlimactic to me, and plays out very differently than in the books, which is clearly better. Dany actually is attempting to save Drogon in the books, and you can sort of say that with the show, as he had been speared multiple times. The Meereen scene in the books was all about Dany rejecting the masters, I am not your mother, turning down the locusts which are poisoned, removing the traditional gown, and running into the pit to save her child. She does not want to be with Hiz, she does not want to be the mother of slavers, she does not want the fighting pits open, she has no love for Meereen or their past practices and culture and has felt backed into a corner because she does not want to go to war, because of the amount of death and killing involved. Not that the slavers have given her any choice. I figure the Sons are suppose to be the threat that the army outside the walls was but it just does not play as well. And could Jorah stop touching everyone? Gosh sure was lucky he went back to the Pits to fight just so he could rescue her from a planned assault he has no idea would happen. So instead of Dany saving Drogon, Drogon and Jorah, and everyone else saves Dany, and Missy, someone had to save her too. Tyrion of course. Not that I don't like Tyrion but could they stop manufacturing scenes for the show where women constantly have to be saved. Can I just point out that the first Harpy who tried to kill Dany walked right past two Unsullied guarding the back of her box while he was wearing a mask. Why? Just so she could be saved. Shireen and Stannis, I thought was acted well, but I felt nothing, it was heavy handed and predictable. Some say Stannis will clearly do this in the books, how the hell will he do this in the books when he is nearly a thousand miles away from her, and stuck and has no way of getting to her. She got a Jojen death, "Well we were done with the character so we killed them off early. We had nothing for Sophie Turner to do so we gave her another characters story so we could have her raped. But it was empowering because she gave Theon a candle. Yeah real empowering, more like very predictable and heavy handed. Oh and Dorne which is just pointless. Oh and Braavos were we have what appears to be a child prostitute about to clearly be abused. Because I need that to dislike Ser whos it's of what's it. Seems like the show always feels the need to abuse young women when they want you to dislike someone you already don't like, or just for cheap shock, which both Shireen and Sansa were. I give the episode a three for ruining one of my favorite scenes, for following the same patterned abuse of women to generate shock and try to force emotion from the viewer, and for White Washing the shit out of Jon now because characters can't be grey or complex. Jon is just a random cliche with a sword at this point running around wanting to hit everything with his sword, and stab everything with his sword, and lacks any of the complexity from the books. And finally Dorne which is a steaming pile of pointless bullshit. I think Dany's motivations come through almost exactly like they did in the books, actually. Burning Shireen is just awful I honestly thought that the one true hearted character in the show was the one that would sit on the Iron Throne, but guess not. In the books she will likely be sacrificed o save Jon, though the GRRM quote through BW seems to suggest otherwise. That tempted me to rate the episode a 1 out of pure rage, but I must be calm in my rating. The Arya and Dorne stuff was decent, and while the final scene had some silly bits was still pretty good. Jon's scene was pointless as it establishes nothing new, but it wasn't bad. My only real issue is with the burning of Shireen and Ramsay's new invisibility power. Anyone else with an ounce of sense would have gone home by now...pride is a pesky thing...I want to see Stannis eat himself alive and be full of terrors...(first post - lurking for weeks) and...I believe it is best to put the book and the show in two separate shelves and enjoy them for what they are. Stop the damn nitpicking. The day I see book six - we can talk....let alone book seven...lets hope GRRM lives that long! I have been waiting for years for that girl to get on that Dragons back!!! I hoenstly don't think it has had a single redeeming quality outside of Tyene's boobs. I'm just praying it doesn't appear in the finale. I originally wanted the "Fire and Blood" speech becasue of how amazing it is in the books, but now all I want is to get out of Dorne ASAP and never ever go back. An episode managed to be horrible without the winterfell storyline? I am once more on the verge of quiting the show.Stannis has suffered from the worst case of character assassination in the entire show. As someone pointed out before he likely won't be present at the wall if Mel does burn Shireen. This was completely against his character and horrific. Arya's arc should have concluded instead been dragging on for another week. Completely anti-climactic.Dorne was supposed to be all about fire and blog this week instead we got nothing. Alexander Siddig is being completely misused here. The entire seasons storyline has been for nothing. The big scene was anti-climactic. No one lifts a finger as she climbs onto the Dragon? Epic scene. 9 all day The entire episode was intense and emotional and laying down the vibe for season 6 Next week we get to see Cersei get rekt and that alone will be worth an hour of my time.. My unsullied husband barely knows where Bravos is, so please just drop it. It was a cool moment and made you wonder whether they would be let through. It worked. Get over it. Obviously you're wrong. You might say that most don't care, though I doubt you could get accurate polls on that. It made a dramatic scene, not better TV. The books hint that dragonlords are immune to deadly diseases like greyscale. In fact especially greyscale because that's an essos thing. Targaryens died of the Great Spring Sickness same as everyone else. Greyscale would make for a poor curse against the Freehold if it didn't work against the dragonlords. I'm not convinced, she is just as likely to contract greyscale, find Brightroar, give it to Jorah as the sword he was promised and tell him to plunge it deep into her heart to kill her before she becomes a monster thus making him AA. :D But I'm pretty sure Jorah's touched just about as many people (including Tyrion) as he possibly could since contracting greyscale.
