Waters Gate
As the title probably suggests, i was wondering what people's oppinions where on how Others compared to Shadows and wether there was some sort of relation.Looking at it myself from a few superficial viewpoints, shadows and others seems but parts of what are not full people, both having a certain relationship to light. The Others always operate in the Dark and probably cast no shadow, a shadow is but a product of light. Superficially the 2 look opposed, And Mellisandre looks allied to shadows and opposed to shadwonless creatures so to speak.Maybe from another perspective one could thing that an other lacks a shadow like a shadow on itself lacks a body. As if both only existed by means of sepperation in the first place, be it that suppericially another element would seem key, fire for making a body warm or casting a shadow. So in a world of ice and fire, do you think the shadows play a relevant role? LmL
Consider that the Others are pale shadows, while Mel's shadowbabies are black shadows. The parallel is this: the NK lay with the NQ, some kind of icy sorceress, and birthed white walkers - pale shadows; while Stannis - a NK parallel - lays with a fire priestess and births black shadows. The black shadows are aid to be drawn of off Stannis' life fires, and Stannis (probably) appears to Dany in a vision as a kind with no shadow - his shadow has been drawn off to make shadow children. Mel is sucking Stannis's life just as the NQ sucked he life and soul from the NK. But Mel's shadows disappear (presumably) while the pale shadows do not. Perhaps there's another step, where the pale shadows are shadow bound to something more physical.

Fire Consumes( Fire shadows disappear) and Ice preserves( Pale shadows continues to exist in their icy body) .
Scorpion92
I always wondered if there is some connection between Kingsguard and White Walkers compared to white shadows. Perhaps White Walkers ARE Kingsguards...to King of Winter?Imagine White Walkers as Kingsguard to King Jon Stark, that will be awesome.
