1000 Unsullied vs. 1000 Dothraki

Who would win in a standard battle in an open field? They are allowed to have any sword/spear/arakh, but NO horses. We should do more vs. scenarios on here, like 1000 Second Sons vs. 1000 Golden Company; 10,000 Wights vs. 1000 Unsullied; 1000 Jhogos Nhai vs. 1000 Westerosi; etc.

The Dothraki are useless in open war without their horses, and would get crushed by the Unsullied in this scenario. Hell, even with their horses 50,000 Dothraki couldn't beat 3,000 Unsullied at the Battle of Qohor.

For your other scenarios, the Golden Company would beat the Second Sons with their superior discipline, 10,000 wights would overwhelm 1,000 Unsullied, and the Jhogo Nhai v Westerosi fight would depend on how many of the latter were armored knights.

The Unsullied. They are superior to the Dothraki as we have seen in the battle of Qohor. I think we know to little about the Jogos Nhai and it is hard to say if the Golden Company or the Second Sons are best. I think the wights would win over the unsullied since the unsullied has no training against such beings. Maybe they could win with a lot of fire.

Wow, i had forgotten about the Battle of Qohor. 50,000 Dothraki lost to 3000 Unsullied. Wow, so Daenerys could technically come over to Westeros with 3 dragons, the Khalasar horde, a loyal Unsullied army, various sellsword companies, pit fighters, and (maybe) Victarion's Ironborn fleet. The entire force of Westeros probably would not be able to hold that off.

Dothraki is derived from a High Valyrian word meaning "overrated".

That said, the Battle of Qohor wasn't strictly open field. The Unsullied had the city wall at their back so they couldn't be encircled. However, the Dothraki certainly lost due to bad leadership, which seems to be the norm for them. Khal Drogo seems to be an exception to that rule, but even he showed poor judgment after being seriously wounded.

Yeah, Dothraki leadership never really is based off of intelligence or having the best ideas, so it makes sense they would have little innovation as far as tactics go and fall apart whenever the strongest member (the khal) dies.

The Unsullied clearly have a command structure built into their training, so even if officers fall they can keep fighting without serious issue. That's the main reason I think, even in an open field, they would wipe the floor with the Dothraki.

The leadership element would be key here too. Those are all very different kinds of fighting forces, and there are probably only a handful of people who would be able to use guide them all in an effective combination. Barristan is one, but odds are 50/50 whether he survives the Battle of Mereen and its aftermath.

Not really, I mean it's possible when the continent is divided. But when it's united, Westeros could theoretically push back Danearys. When she lands, she'll be seen as nothing but a foreign invader who is bringing rapists and plunderers to invade. Her armies will be dothrakis that can't even take a castle and would rather rape their way through the smallfolks(not a good way of winning the heart of the people), an slave army that is overrated anyway since Phalanx did go obsolete by the more mobile forces. An pincer attack can put an end to the Unsullied(Get the infantry to hold the unsullied and hit them in the flanks with horses), sellswords which are notorious for their unreliability. And pit fighters arent that good anyway, they fight good on their own, but dont even know how to work together. And everyone hates the ironborn anyway. And if you are thinking dragons, dont:D because these dragons are babies compared to the original dragons that established the 7 Kingdoms.

This was already gone over in the books. the unsullied will win. No matter what the scenario is, as long as they can form up, they will prevail

The Unsullied are the best infantry on that world.  Unsullied win easily over any infantry.

All of the above. Assuming everybody else agrees that, according to GRRM's established rules, Unsullied destroy the Dothraki in this scenario.

Yeah, that's why I was so annoyed when the show screwed it up and made them get defeated by a couple of Sons of the Harpy

You should throw all these fictional scenarios in the games forum.

It's not that impressive, really. The Dothraki repeatedly, deliberately charged into a shield wall, over and over again. The Battle of Qohor is more of a testament to Dothraki stupidity than Unsullied skill.

Depending on how realistic GRRM wants to write it, the Dothraki should prove largely useless in any real battle scenario. The Unsullied are a little better, but their equipment and training is far outdated compared to Westerosi forces.

What is the consensus on Dothraki vs. Unsullied in single combat? Let's say Khal Jhaqo vs. Grey Worm, for example. They seem to be top tier in their respective forces.

i would say Dothraki, Just basing off what we saw from Khal Drogo. in his one fight scene he was insane, killed a blood rider without any weapon whilst taking the piss out of him
