Welcome to the 30th edition of Telephone Pictionary!

As usual a special thank you to the previous hosts, the wonderful Buckwheat. The registry of all the fantastic results from the previous games can be found here.

For the inexperienced players: this is a very friendly, fun game, and we promise we do not bite. Here are the standard rules:

If you are new, please read the game flow and rules below:

Spoiler

Everyone signed up should start by PMing me with a sentence. Please title your PM's as '*board name* - Pictionary' or something similar to help me keep track of everything. If you already have a PM chain with me, you can use that regardless of the title.

When the game starts, each of the original sentences will be sent out to a different player. This player will have approximately 72 hours (3 days) to draw the sentence and send me a PM with a link to the picture. At the end of those 72 hours, the sentence will be sent to a third person, who hasn't seen anything from that chain before. This person will have approximately 48 hours to send in a sentence summarizing the picture.

If you cannot meet a deadline, please notify me as soon as you've received the sentence (or picture) - or, better yet, tell me before you receive one. I will find somebody else and send it there. I will also do this automatically if you have not completed the round by the deadline (usually 72 hours for pictures and 48 hours for sentences). Somebody who consistently fails to meet deadlines will be kicked out of the game at my discretion. Especially somebody who doesn't announce that they cannot meet a deadline beforehand.

Any drawing program - Photoshop, Flash, MS Paint - will do. Drawing pictures by hand and scanning/taking a photo of them will also do. Basically, anything will do as long as I can see it. Having said that, please draw everything from scratch. You can use Google Images as a reference, but don't paste other people's pictures into your own.

- In images, words are completely banned! Letters and symbols are allowed/banned at my discretion. But try not to use them except when absolutely vital.
- Please don't intentionally mislead anybody. Do the most accurate non-legalistic picture that you can. The chain will find a way to mutate anyway.
- Pictures shouldn't be too small, which basically means as long as I can see them and they can be viewed in their entirety on one page, you're fine.
- Pictures should be the right way up (this may seem obvious but weird things have happened, most hosting sites can rotate pictures, and most image viewing software can too.)
- Photographs are best saved as JPGs; otherwise, if in doubt, you should probably save as a PNG. Do not save as a BMP under any circumstances or I'll have to ask you to reformat it before sending it onward, and nobody wants that. If you're using MS paint, remember to save your pictures as .jpg NOT keep the .bmp saving.
- Please be mindful of where you upload your pictures to. Tinypic deletes its pictures without warning. Imgur is probably your best bet (imgur.com).
- Link to the photo. Not the Gallery. Make sure it's just a link and that the picture is not embedded in the PM.
- When you upload, don't save it under a name that will hint at its origins. This is something else that you'll need to reformat over.
- Okay, on to sentences. Keep it to one sentence and don't be too legalistic about what you are summarizing.
- When you describe a picture, the general idea is more important than the specifics.
- Please don't talk to other players about the sentences/pictures you got. If somebody tells you anything about a chain you haven't seen yet, please let me know.
- If you haven't sent a link in within 48 hours (but not the full 72), I might send you a prod (might if I remember). Other actions may be taken if you're inactive for the full round.
- Please use 1 PM conversation for this game, otherwise my PM cannot hold a new conversation for every turn and/or thoughts on the game.

I will update this opening post to indicate what round we are on and when deadlines are. This game is language themed. Please send all sentences in a language that is not English and preferably not your native language. When you send me the sentence please let me know which language it is in and what the sentence is supposed to be in English. Have fun!

Sure! I also think it might be time for a themed game after a long time.

What about a "speak another language" pictionary? Try to use a language that is not English in your sentences. The recipient can help themselves with google, dictionaries, blind guessing, or whatever else to decipher it. It should make for a fun game. Obviously the starting sentences will have to be VERY simple.

I think if you have XXX in the title (even if it's meant to be Roman numerals) a reasonable amount of smut should be expected.

Can you sign me and @TitanCat's Cute Boyfriend as a player team please?

He still seems to have 0 as his post count, so he probably will not be able to be getting private messages (unless that changed with the update?). You might need to tell him he needs to make some posts in the non-games forums.

I can do this,   but I think everyone should choose a language they don't know (beyond a few very simple phrases  - X Beer's please)

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of any language, regardless of how well you know it or not. Maybe I just want to see how y'all struggle with google translated Slovene. :P

I'm confused about how this will work logistically - is it just for starting sentences, or do we need to translate every sentence? And does each player have a language, or is it pick a language at random every time?

In theory, could be a bunch of fun.

If we wanted a simpler but related theme (to give us time to figure out a more linguistically exciting pictionary game) we could go on a theme of Countries/Cities/International travel or something.

But this gives multi lingual an unfair advantage.

I think Buck's idea is every sentence round.     although if we do that then I think we should tell the recipient what the langue is  (and tell TC for reveal purposes what the sentence is supposed to say)

i vote for using a language you are not fluent in...

Charbon, le charbon, qui a obtenu le charbon?

Schmutz ... Schmutz ..., die den Schmutz hat bekam?

snet ... snet ... ki je dobil snet?

:lmao: Sneeeeeet! That is actually a type of a plant parasite and nobody ever uses that word (apart from you are really into agriculture, I guess?).

I can already see this game can turn hilarious.

yes i know but in english it has more than one meaning...and it is called corn smut because the result looks like dirt or soot on the corn...

smut
smət/
noun
noun: smut; plural noun: smuts
  1. 1.
a small flake of soot or other dirt.
"all those black smuts from the engine"
  2. 2.
a fungal disease of grains in which parts of the ear change to black powder.
  3. 3.
obscene or lascivious talk, writing, or pictures.
"porn, in this view, is far from being harmless smut"
  1.

and yes i agree this could be really fun...

Sure, I'll do it. Although if past experiences are anything to go by, my pictures will be shit or late, or both.

Quick question though, why is it called ''Telephone'' pictionary?

because the game Chinese Whispers is called Telephone wherever the person lived who gave us this game.

Chinese Whispers is the game where you all sit in a circle (or line I suppose) someone starts a chain by whispering a phrase to the person next to them.  They then pass it on.   the last person in the chain then tells everyone the message.    however by the time the message has reach its 6 person normally it has mutated to involve ear licks and other such disgusting stuff.  And even if you take them out, they will be back in the message within just a few people.
