Westeros
Here’s an interesting scoop from Entertaintment Weekly: Finn Jones, best known to Game of Thrones fans as Ser Loras Tyrell, has landed the lead role in the Marvel-Netflix series, Iron Fist. The role of Danny Rand has had a lot of debate surrounding it in various corners of the media, but it looks like the studio has pushed back against that. For those who don’t know, the character of Iron Fist was created in the 1970s when there was a fad for martial arts in pop culture—Bruce Lee, Kung-Fu, and the like—and Marvel dutifully looked to provide what people wanted. In the comics, Iron Fist is Danny Rand, an American who ends up becoming the pupil of a mystical martial artist in the hidden city of K’un-L’un. There he learned martial arts and gained supernatural powers by placing his fists in the heart of a dragon. Born to a wealthy family, Rand is a businessman by day, hero by night, who has long associations with Luke Cage (recently seen in Jessica Jones, and soon appearing in his own series) and other heroes such as Daredevil (notably, the first season of Daredevil featured easter eggs pointing to K’un-L’un and Iron Fist), the heroic group The Defenders (the ultimate goal of Netflix being a series featuring this group), the Avengers, and more. read on >>> Visit the Site! Richard Writhen
I'm not familiar with the character ... but there are a lot of obscure Marvel characters.Guess I could wiki it.
Mat92
It's one of the Marvel Netflix series such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones and soon to be Luke Cage. They will all team up in The Defenders. Sort of like the Netflix version of Avengers but it's able to be darker and more violent. It's part of the same cinematic universe as the Avengers of course. Surprised to see he was cast but not disappointed - excited to see how he does!
yankee211
Congrats to Finn, with his casting, we should assume that Laras Tyrell will die this upcoming season. I will be surprise if Finn films both GOT & Iron Fist.
Ser Not Appearing
Interesting, as I consider the actor to be such a wimp persona. Will be a good career opportunity to play something different and round out the public view, assuming he can.
0LordCommanderSnow0
This shit is crazy, I would never in a million years think of him for Dany Rand/Iron fist but Marvel is exceptional with their casting so i'm amped to see it.
ambi76
So finally official. I'm so happy for Finn (yes I'm a fan"girl") and frankly, as someone who does know jack shit about comics and comic heroes, the more I read about Dany Rand the more he sounds just like Finn Jones (silly, enthusiastic, not too bright) in some weird Kung-Fu AU were instead of being an actor rambling about wanting to ride magical unicorns he's a millionaire that rambles about farting Kung-Fu mysthicsism and a magic Asian city. Gah!
Ser Yorick Ampersand
Is Iron-Fist a pillow-bitter?
