Ser Danyel Mortimer
Would Tywin have won with just the Lannister Army against Stannis at the Blackwater?

Wow what a tough question! I think that he would have won but the city would be totally demolished and his army also! We exactly dont know how much forces Stannis had on a land but deployed knights and soldiers under the walls would have done brutal damage
Ser Danyel Mortimer
each had about twenty thousand men, but Tywin's was mostly foot whereas the part of Renly's army Stannis got was all horse. If Tywin wins we get the same as in the books but if he loses then it changes everything.
cyberdirectorfreedom
The arrival of the Lannister army would have ruined everything for Stannis, regardless of whether or not the Tyrells were with him. They would've done serious damage to Stannis's side; the city would have been able to hold, no matter the outcome. So, yes, Lannister victory, in my opinion. Ser Danyel Mortimer
Perhaps but it would have been far closer than it was without the Tyrells for at least two reasons
dread wolf
tywin attacks from the kingswood right and stannis second smaller host is there. Tywin wins but suffers losses the numbers are more or less equal so if stannis can withstand the siege (he also has cavalry compared to lannister foot soldiers which gives him an advantage in attack) and since he has experience in sieges he can win the battle or at the very least storm red keep and take cersei and joffery hostage. Ser Danyel Mortimer
Theres a good chance he could win the battle, now holding the city probably wouldn't be possible without more men but he doesn't need to.
