I'm late to the party and just started Within The Wires, another Nightvale Presents podcast.  All I have to say is, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE????"

It's so creepy.

Anything coming out from the Night Vale people is worth a listen.

Also, now that this thread has been brought back to life I'll take this opportunity to pump my new favorite podcast ever: Hello from the Magic Tavern.

Inspired by Manhole pointing on the very enjoyable Dan Carlin's Hardcore History plus the fact that I've got a new phone with enough space on it to let me actually download a few podcasts at a time I've been on a bit of a podcast binge recently.

Other than Hardcore History I listen to a couple of rugby podcasts Brian Moore's Full Contact , which is quite informative, and Flats and Shanks which is a bit more of a couple of ex pros telling funny stories of their time in the game mixed in with some analysis as well. How Did This Get Made? is excellent as well, just hilarious. Pod Save America is a very establishment Democrat party line podcast but they're also clearly very knowledgeable and pretty funny too so it's quite interesting. I think I'll probably, very late to the party, give Serial a try too.

I find iTunes the simplest way of listening to podcasts, as I mainly just listen to them whilst using my computer. But it is simple enough to transfer the files onto my phone if needed. I predominantly listen to football (soccer) shows and BBC Radio 4 programmes, but would also recommend the first season of Serial and No Such Thing as a Fish.

If you haven't listened to My Dad Wrote a Porno you are missing out big time.

I've seen that recommended a few times now. I'll have to give it a try.

I use the Apple podcast app. It does the job pretty well largely but the one issue I'm having with it is I'd like to buy some of the older Hardcore History episodes but I can't work out how to download them into the app. I suppose I could just buy them in itunes but it seems a little unwieldy.

Have you tried buying them through his website? I'm not sure how it works as far as downloading them directly into a device, as I typically just listen to them on my computer, but I have to imagine there's a function for that.

Ah, I'd seen the older episodes were on sale through his website before but I wasn't sure whether I'd be able to download them onto my phone. Having looked again it appears the FAQ has instructions for how to download purchases into the Apple podcasts app, probably should have looked at that first time round.

Anyway, problem solved! Cheers.

Good deal. I felt guilty after listening to a fuckton of his stuff on You Tube for free, so I went to his site and bought a bunch of the stuff he had there. Ghosts of Ostland was especially good.

A little over a year ago I started working 10 hour days in which I could listen to my MP3 player all day.  Started with music, but after my brothers recomendation I switched to some podcasts.  Mostly Kevin Smith's stuff, Smodcast and Hollywood babble on.  Then I discovered the wonderful world of Dungeons and Dragons live plays.

I started with Aquisitions Incorporated and loved it.  Now I regularly listen to mostly Dungeons and Dragons podcasts.  Drunks and Dragons, Sneak Attack, Godsfall, DMBlock, Critical Hit just to name a few.

I personally use Itunes because most of what I listen to is on there and it's easy to transfer to my little MP3 player (tried using my Kindle, but wasn't loud enough for work).

D&D live play stuff isn't really my thing, so I haven't actually listened to the podcast I'm about to recommend, but a friend who listens to a lot of that kind of thing swears by The Adventure Zone.

Yeah, forgot about them.  I love The Adventure Zone.  Keeps me laughing all the way through.

Just wanted to second Jaime L's rec of How Did This Get Made? on another thread. 3 comedians (and often a guest) deconstruct really bad movies. You can find many of them on You Tube. The Road House one is really funny.

The best ones for me are when they do movies that I'm really familiar with. Vampires Kiss with Nick Cage was another really funny episode.

This is the Spirits Podcast link by the way...I can't imagine a podcast that would be more for me more than this unless they did a bonus episode on 80s british post punk and another on blade runner LOL which of course they wouldn't but this podcast is basically MY CUP OF TEA and hopefully others will enjoy

I'm about halfway through the first season of Serial and, I'm sure this is news to nobody at this point, it's really, really good. The producers of Serial have a new podcast called S-Town that's being released next week though which I'm definitely going to check out.

My Dad Wrote a Porno is also very good in a hilariously cringe worthy fashion.
