Il Davos doomed?

I am a Davos fan,  always been,  since reading the books.

I have the feeling, considered the show mechanics, that he has made a very strange and vaguely out of character step by holing in with a handful of crows, with very little hope, and since this seems a bit worrying to me, I was interested in having general feedback on the following:

- is the move out of character?

- is he going to die soon in the show? I have the feeling that some characters are killed in the show when they do something very stupid and out of their usual character. It happened with Stannis, to mention one.

I don't think this is out of character for Davos. Neither do I think he is going to die soon. Jon (if he comes back) needs someone who is loyal like Davos and someone who will give him truthful and sometimes brutally honest counsel. But not until he's commanded to, of course. lol Even if Jon doesn't return, whoever steps into his leadership role will need Davos's wise counsel, especially now that he knows how to read.

Helping people in trouble even if it cost him his life seems to be something davos does all the time. Stannis, Gendry, and now the night's watch bros.

He is making it out of this next episode and then probably at least all the way to episode 9.

Alike Jorah, no matter how good he is or how much good he does, Davos is ultimately doomed. This is the overarching theme of ASOIAF. Death comes for us all, and despite our best efforts, we will always lose. Even Arya will be hunted down and killed by the faceless men, as a result of her efforts to return and help her family, despite her training.

Pick your favourite GoT character. Go on. Any character. This isn't a magic trick.

Now, I don't know who you picked, but I can tell you how that character's story ends.

Are you ready?

...............

Are you sure?

...............

Last chance....

.................

They DIE. Every single human being in Westeros dies in the end, despite what they accomplished in life. It doesn't matter if you're a dwarf who casts a large shadow, nor does it matter if you're a bastard aspiring for greatness, it doesn't matter if you were a daughter born into power.

They are ALL going to die. Davos especially. Do you really think he'll live long enough to serve as hand for King Jon or Queen Dany? This is NOT a fairy tale. The guy will serve his role and die. That's it. No more, no less.

I love the Onion Knight as much as I love Ned. Or Stannis. Or Renly. Or Robb. Or Oberyn. Or Doran. Or any other character that I felt had the slightest most remote hint of "This person could actually HELP or CHANGE the realm".

And you know why? Because they are too good. Everything good in this world is killed by those that don't have it.

GRRM has stated that the ending to ASOIAF is "bittersweet". To me, that means someone completely unexpected will take the throne, despite the sacrifices of everyone to get that person there.

If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

I personally think that Davos (or possibly Sam, but I'd prefer Davos) could be this story's Sam of LOTR and eventually survive the whole story and somehow greatly influence it while more or less playing the second fiddle the whole time, and I believe that at the end he might finally go home to his wife and his surviving sons with something like "So I'm back..." and his sons like "was it an adventure, daddy?" and Davos like "yes, it was one helluva story... once upon a time, an old facon died and a stag, the king, went north to meet his wolf friend and to ask him to help him rule the kingdom..."

So in my opinion, he will survive.

All those brothers will die.

Only Daavos and Edd will live..

You can see from the trailers that Davos goes to house mormont, davos lead the battle of bastards etc.

Well, we don't know if Edd will live(I hope so), but yeah, Davos will definitely survive the standoff at the Wall.

They DIE. Every single human being on the planet dies, despite what they accomplished in their lives. Only GRRM knows who truly lives or dies in the story. Sorry, I'm just a bit grumpy because I've lost my Reek and my wife. Not to mention my mother in law is totes about to give birth to my half brother (I'm thinking they both might be good dog food).

Anyway, it's hard to stay positive in these trying times, you know?

Winterfell is mine, come and see! =P

Although I might jinx it by saying this, I think that if there is an "immortal" character in the story (both books and show) it is Tyrion and Edd. Considering what both already survived, they feel unkillable. I just wonder if Edd has some important part in the story in the future or if he is kept alive in books because of his great jokes and in the show because he is one of like 3 named characters of the NW.

Well he seems to get out of that room anyway. Trailers are showing him as such. I think Davos is a 'take one episode at a time' kind of guy. He's just happy if he makes it to the end of the episode. :)

We'll see how it progresses. A bit like Tyrion, he seems to be able to survive whatever life throws in his way. Stannis sent him to Castle Black so he wouldn't see what happened Shireen. He wasn't happy about it, but I bet he's a lot happier now.

Just a word on Liam Cunningham. He has taken that role and really lived it. I don't think anyone can read the books now and not see Liam Cunningham when they read Davos' parts.

Yes.. Death comes for all of us.

But again, the ending is bittersweet. So it wont be that the human race is wiped from the land and ALL those we know now are dead.

Davos is not a very big important character. He may well live till the end.

I strongly believe yhe end will be a war torn devastaed land with few of those who remain, wiser yet sad about what all they lost..

"HOPE". That will be the ending accoring to me.

Davos will survive it all. He expects to die, so to me he seems the most likely out of all too survive the whole thing. Now Stannis is gone, Davos is willing to take risks. I don't see it going out of character for him, but rather personal growth, since he can step out of the shadows and can show his full potential. Davos is also the only one who ever admitted to be nor good, nor bad. A good quality to be the eventual hero of the entire thing, since he knows himself.

Some have suggested that he may serve as a glamour for Jon. I hope not, that would seem rather...shallow to me. And I like his character simply for his dark sense of humor(they don't call him dolorous Edd for nothing).
