JLE Posted May 2, 2016 Share Posted May 2, 2016 Unlikely but hopeful: GRRM did at first believe he could actually finish the book in time for the show. The fact that he didn't still suggests that he knows, writing at his old fastest (which he will probably never reach again), that he could have done it, and that therefore at the very least the book is close enough to completion that it shouldn't be too much longer. mormont Posted May 2, 2016 Share Posted May 2, 2016 First, no, there is absolutely no truth to this rumour whatsoever. There is no completed manuscript, so there is no release date. When the MS is completed, GRRM will announce that on his blog first. Only then, some time following, can there be any release date to announce. So any release date announcement that precedes GRRM's announcement of completing the MS is an invention. End of story.
