Boltons in Sansa's bag after Ramsay dies

Who's to say there's no brother or cousin of Roose waiting at the Dreadfort? This is a family that's aged back to the Red Kings thousands of years.

Yeah, but they also had Ramsay for a relative, so they'll probably find pieces of them all over the North. Ramsay was legitimatized because Roose was out of options, especially after his other son had an unfortunate 'accident'. Was he even mentioned in the show?

If he was "out of options" he wouldn't have bothered with Walda and the boy. Members of the main branch of the family tend to look down upon members of the lesser branches and cadet members of their family with disdain. Look at how the Lannisters view the Lannisport Lannisters in the novels for example. Roose would be considered a failure if he let his lowly cousin who barely rapes his peasants and hasn't flayed anyone in years take over the family.

In the history of the North, Boltons constantly rebelled, I think I remember from the books that they actually killed and skinned at least a Stark or two, and from DVDs extras - invaded and burned Winterfell a time or two, but after winning Starks always allowed Boltons to keep their lands and titles. Maybe because Boltons were too strong to exterminate completely or this happened before Starks unified North under their rule. Do you think this would happens again or Bolton House will be exterminated and lands taken over by another house? But both in books and the show - Roose and Ramsey (not counting Fat Walda's baby) are the last Boltons.

Westeros isn't feudal Japan. They don't execute the losing army in the field.

The Bolton soldiers might be sent to the wall though.

One of the things in the books is that there is allegedly a room full of flayed hides. Wonder what happens to that when the wall falls and the white walkers come south.

It just occurred to me that the Bolton army has to listen to Sansa, the Lady Bolton, after Ramsay dies. Free army for Jon in his pocket. Thoughts?

She would get Bolton support anyways as she's the Wardeness of the North if Ramsay loses
