There was a shot in the flashback...where someone's hand (it looked like young Ned's to me) was covered in blood from a person drenched in blood.  Could we be seeing our first shot from inside the ToJ?

BTW, I love the scenes at Horn Hill.  Didn't expect Sam to take Gilly and the baby with him in the end though.  Does it mean he is no longer going to train as a Maester???  I have read some spoilers about stealing the sword and the moment Lord Tarly mentioned it I just knew lol and loved it but where are they all to go now???

I got the weirdest vibe that the “Burn them all!” cackling was a message about dealing with the wights even then bearing down upon Bran.

I really think the choices of cuts made is something that we’ll be able to read a lot into.  Or out of.  However that works.

Did you notice that we heard about all three ways of killing white walkers?

First we see fire, then the discussion of dragonglass, then the mention of Valyerian steel which Sam immediately makes off with. Oh and Danny is building an army to fight for a kingdom with a much bigger problem than who sits on the throne.

We had the seven kingdoms speeches by Danny and Tommen. Right now, Tommen sounds like a better king for Westeros than Danny. And of course we had the play.

Oh notice that Arya takes her family sword back the same week Sam takes his birthright sword. And they are both stepping up for themselves and deciding to do what they think is right.

I doubt it. We didn't get as much time together as in the books.

That’s an astute observation.  Not even the Red Woman herself claimed did it; she almost certainly did not.

Anybody notice the flash of Catelyn?

I didn't think of any LSH connection. I think its just something that Bran did not know yet, same with dying King Robb in there too.

Did anyone else imagine Horn Hill a lot smaller? That looked like a huge castle. Also it looked like a library or a museum.

Loved Randyll. Great casting there. The dinner scene was good, but I think they've overdone it a little with the cheerful happy mother and sister. They seemed just a little too sweet to that complete stranger in rags.

Heartsbane looked cool, but I wonder why Sam would take it. No good can come of this. I get it, he's getting braver. But he's still smarter than that.

Really looking forward to Jaime/Blackfish confrontation. I loved that in the books. I'm not sure how well it can be done on TV though, since there's a lot in Jaime's inner thoughts.  Also Jaime on the show is someone else entirely

Great episode.  That could not have been anywhere near an hour.

Bran:

Loved seeing King Aerys and the Wildfire in the vision.  Nice to see Robb, Cat, and Ned too...:crying:

I’m not sure how to describe the sound that I made when I heard “when I last saw you…”  It was something between a gasp, a squeal, and a shriek… Great reintroduction of Benjen Stark, but how did he find them?  Was he where the 3ER was, since the children found him? I hope he lives long enough to reconnect with Jon and Sansa too.

Sam:

Will someone please kill off Randyll Tarly?  He’s been on the show for 5 minutes and I already hate him! Dickon is arrogant, but was not particularly mean to Sam and Gilly, so I’ll give him a pass. So glad that Sam stole Heartsbane.  I hope he will put it to good use against a WW.  I will say that casting for the whole Tarly family was good, even though I pictured everyone differently.

Little Sam is so cute!  I loved the way he reacted to Sam’s mom.  I wish he really was Sam’s son.

Gilly cleans up well!!! And I really liked the way she stood up for Sam. I wish he’d done the same for her.  I also liked Lady Tarly telling Randyll off.  Women for the win in this scene!

Freys:

I thought they could have done more to remind show viewers who Lord Frey was, like including the Twins in the credits or having someone call him Lord Frey.  Yes, he’s shown on the “previously on…”but I thought it might be confusing for show-only people.

And Lord Frey replaced the girl that Cat killed with an even younger wife?  What is he—the Viagra distributor for the Seven Kingdoms?

Glad they mentioned the Brotherhood.  Probably means they will show up to annoy Jaime or Brienne.

Tobias Menzies is my hero.  2 roles on Outlander and one on GoT!

KL:

I was really hoping that Jaime would kill a few people, especially Lancel.  He was finally back to his badass self.  I laughed as he rolled his eyes at Mace’s “inspiring” speech.  (And NCW is so freaking handsome!) At first, I thought that HS saying there was no need for violence was anticlimactic, but it really worked.

I thought for sure that Marg was faking her liking for HS, so I was floored when she and Tommen publicly supported him and  the faith.  I still and suspicious and think Marg knew when she met Tommen that if she converted Tommen she would be spare the Walk of Atonement. ( I will say that Jonathan Pryce is perfect as the HS.)  By the way, why should Marg walk naked through the streets?  Her crime of supporting her brother did not deserve that level of punishment.  It’s different from Cersei, who actually had sex outside of marriage. (Not that I think Cersei deserved it either.)

So how can Jaime/Cersei/Mace/Olenna address this new development?  Other than revealing that Tommen is Jaime’s child, I can’t think of anything. Or is Margaery taking the Game to the next level? some of her expressions suggested this.

Now Jaime is eligible to be Lord of Casterly Rock, but not sure that matters at this point.

Now Tommen is on the opposite side of Cersei.  I think this is setting up the Mountain to kill him during the trial.

I’m really enjoying Cersei as the voice of reason.  I so badly want her to get her revenge against the HS and Septa Unella.

I know some folks hate that Cersei and Jaime are still together.  However, I think this is a set up for the final season when one of them dies and they are tragically torn apart or Jaime kills Cersei.  It's more dramatic in either case if there is no estrangement this far in advance. (Though I admit I'm a J/C shipper and I actually like them together.)

Arya:

First of all, the play is amazingly accurate about what happened in KL.  They pretty much have all the facts right.  Loved how Arya was the only one laughing at Joffrey’s demise.

My second thought about the play is that it must have been produced by D&D, since Cersei Lannister was so sympathetic. ;)  (Essie Davis was great in that role.  Love her in Miss Fisher’s Mysteries.)  I thought it was interesting that Arya could understand Cersei’s pain at losing her son.  I believe it’s the first time in the series that Arya has shown empathy for anyone.

Needle!  Arya has gone back to her identity.  Will she return to Westeros next?

Dany:

I liked her reunion with Drogon, but nothing else terribly interesting.  I laughed that the number of ships she needs is EXACTLY the number of ships that Euron is building.  How convenient!

Maybe we will see the bones of Ned finally make a reappearance now. Aside from Benjen being missing, so is Ned. Maybe he can't be reanimated because he died south of the wall where they belong where no magic could reach them.

Jon dies right on the border of the true North and South divide, half Targ half Stark, half ice have fire. The wall was probably the agreed upon border, men broke the pact. War is on. Jon will be the balance between Targs v. WW/Starks.

He may well do, but the Wall will have to come own first. Which it shall.

Ned’s dead and lacks a head: who wants to see a headless skeleton dancing around?

Don’t let the zombie apocalypse override all reason.

There has to be a connection between Benjen and Jon being resurrected. Perhaps because they are so close to the North or the Wall? Maybe because they were the Starks of the Nights Watch. "Starks have manned the Wall for thousands of years. And you are a Stark" - Ned to Jon, S1E2.

One thought has now suddenly entered my mind, probably completely off though... but do you reckon Olenna or someone else might, given how truly converted by the HS Tommen seems, decide to do a repeat of the Purple Wedding (albeit without wedding lol)???  This would start to fulfill the prophecy.  On the other hand I doubt we will see the results of that prophecy in this season.  Just wondering though...

I really enjoyed this episode even though it was more of a set up episode. I was actually surprised to enjoy Sam and Gilly's scenes. I thought the second scene of theirs was pretty good.

Walder Frey is back and Arya better be the one to kill him.

Actually speaking of Arya-Yes! So much character development we saw tonight. She is Arya Stark, she won't kill off innocent people, she can feel what other characters feel like how she knew how Cersie would react, and Needle! Something about how they are protraying the Faceless Men is confusing me. The Waif goes ' you promised me' to Jaqen; to kill Arya. She is not being a FM. And Jaqen's comment that Arya had many great gifts sounded sad... I wonder if this the actual test. We all know Arya has to get back to Weateros and hopefully it will be with the theatre troupe.

Benjen is back! Go Bran! I loved their scenes. And I felt for poor Meera.

King's Landing... Was interesting. Same for Dany. I bet Yara and Theon will come to her aid with the ships.

There may be something to that. Then again, plenty of Starks have died up there.

I expected Arya to abandon the House of Black and White and not to be able to carry out the murder of the actress but the scene still kept me on my toes which was good.  Definitely love the fact that she is clearly showing she is still capable of empathy and yes, my incline was also that she will join the mummers and that is how she will travel to Westeros.

Seems that yes the Iron Born will provide the ships which tallies in a way with the books because in the Tyrion chapter released from Winds of Winter he is persuading the Second Sons to join Victarion so that is probably how finally he gets to meet Dany and join the team and about time and all lol

Someone's birth may have given rise to the re-emergence of magical abilities. Jon? Bran? Dany & Dragon Co.?
