Question about show vs. book Sansa (Spoilers)

Recommended Posts

We were reminded in the No One episode during the play that the queen blamed Sansa for having a hand in murdering Joffrey.  Sansa is essentially wanted for regicide (a serious offense) and I thought that part of the reason for going to the Vale, pretending to be LF's bastard daughter was to hide from the crown (among others).

You would think that the crown would have heard about her marriage to Ramsay and gone to seize her in the name of the king's justice.  Has this plot line been completely abandoned by the show?  Or it's a matter of the crown has bigger fish to fry?

Thoughts?

Baelish even told Cersei in the show that Sansa has married Ramsay Bolton, so I think Cersei is merely preoccupied at the moment.

When Littlefinger told Cersei about Sansa's marriage to Ramsay, he immediately offers to smash the treacherous Boltons for Cersei, in exchange of the title of Warden of the North. Cersei says that she wants to see "Sansa's head on a spike" and LF "agrees". So Cersei thinks she dealt with the problem and I suppose that other people may not know about it. And Cersei probably doesn't know about LF's pocket valyrian teleporter so she might think that he and the Vale army have yet to reach the North.

I always just assumed that the crown had bigger fish to fry.

Can't really be worrying about the North, when Tywin is dying and the High Sparrow is rising in power, etc.

It's one of the main reasons why Cersei / the show have pretty much forgotten about any sort of retribution against Dorne and the Sand Snakes for Myrcella's death.

By the time Cersei heard about Myrcella's death she lost all power she had other than Qyburn and his sparrows and unGregor, as well as Jaime

She tried to bring it in at the small council and they brushed her off since they (and Tyrells) were pre-occupied with Margaery's and Loras imprisonment. After that was resolved, Cersei is too busy trying to pretend she didn't lose and prepping for her trial.

As for Sansa, Cersei is sure her bff LF is taking care of Boltons and her and that will take time, so she is not concerned over it.

Fair points.

One question - where's the Lannister army throughout all of this?

She might not have power in King's Landing anymore, but between her and Jaime they have full control of the Lannister army.

It didn't seem too farfetched for Jaime to do something like pay Bronn a ton of money to go to Dorne with a portion of the army and attack the Sand Snakes.

Not really, Kevan and Tommen control Lannister forces and Jaime only leads it now because Tommen ORDERED him to retake Riverrun and told him to lead his armies.

So, only thing that Jaime could do is pay Bronn a ton of money to hire mercenaries (not Lannister army of which he had no control over) and try to assassinate Sand Snakes. And if you think Bronn would ever return to Dorne after his little "adventure" with a Sand Snake, you are deeply mistaken. Bronn is greedy and not suicidal.

Of course, now that Jaime got control of the army he hopefully won't let it go and use it.

Basically, both of them had a chance to have power and hold it and they lost it - Cersei thru sheer stupidity and Jaime thru pride (Tywin did offer to make him his heir aka Lannister House heir not Iron Throne). And when Jaime didn't take it, Kevan became official Tywin's heir of House Lannister.

Now that I am thinking, wouldn't Cersei still be in line to be Lady of Castely Rock since she is a Tywin's daughter and both Jaime and Tyrion are no longer considered to heirs?  but I think in the beginning of season 5 she literally sent Kevan off - to be Lord of Castely Rock so she could be Head of Small Council and Queen Regent. Again, lost her power thru sheer stupidity
