Jaime4Brienne
I mostly like him but I'll also put in Sam. When he really, really annoyed me is when he refused to walk and Small Paul ended up carrying him, which wore Small Paul out so much he died. That made me completely infuriated with Sam. Warsaw
Please don't burn me at the stake, but I found myself annoyed at some Arya bits. Sometimes I just wanted to slap her in the face and yell at her YOU'RE NINE. YOU KNOW NOTHING. STOP BEING SO ARROGANT AND UNGRATEFUL AND NARROWMINDED. GOD. Sure, everyone gets upset at Sansa's bad choices, but when Arya wastes most of her magical three death wishes no one says shit. I forgive them both because, everyone forgets, they're children. Of course, Sansa was irritating as well at first, but she grows up sooner. Shae was really irritating in the books. I watched the first two seasons of the show before reading so I was expecting another character. She dissappointed me greatly. Also Hot Pie and Lommy. Bunch of dicks. Theon was an irritating prick as well, but then, well... When you get really into it, most characters seem annoying at some point. It makes them more human. Minuteman
How did no one bring up Victarion? Eat, drink, rape, murder, repeat. And talk just enough to demonstrate that you are one of the most stupid men ever to draw breath. His only redeeming quality is that he feels a little bad for beating his wife to death. Elisabetta Duò
Penny Early Sansa Ygritte Lysa Tully Walter Frey Daenerys when she starts listing her titles / doesn't see reason Shae (in the books and in the show but for different reasons) + I don't know if 'annoying' is truly the right word, but to me it's also Catelyn Tully (unpopular choice, probably) She thought herself cleverer and more wise than she was, she treated child Jon bably, she gave Eddard the wrong advice when he was hesitant to go to KL as the Hand, she was blinded by the 'family' bit in the Tully motto and believed any lie LF fed her through Lysa or directly, started a total mess implanting in Eddard the idea that the Lannisters were behind Jon Arryn's death and kidnapping Tyrion, she made the wrong decision leaving Bran and Rickon and following Robb, she gave Robb a couple of good advices but as a whole was not a good adviser, was a terrible negotiator and was naive about the 'guest protetction'. She was a strong woman and she loved her family, I concede that, but I found the way she behaved annoying. I also think a part of Jon, Bran and Arya's storylines were too slow or boring. It's not the characters to be faulted for that, of course.

Maxxine
Sansa is the most annoying character to me until she becomes Alayne. Idk if this is weird or if it even makes sense, but even though I despised Sansa as a character I didn't dread her chapters because they usually were entertaining even though she was annoying as hell. On the other hand, I don't find Alayne annoying bc she's grown up a lot but I dread reading the chapters bc a lot of nothing happens other than Lysa's death. Yeah her and LF are scheming and they have an interesting plan that may have a big effect on the overall story but sheesh it's tedious and hard for me to read. The chapters are most hate are Victarian and Aeron. 17 hours ago, Warsaw said: Please don't burn me at the stake, but I found myself annoyed at some Arya bits. Definitely not going to "burn you at the stake" for your opinion of finding Arya annoying (even though I strongly disagree. Lol), but wanted to comment on why I think people somewhat give Arya a pass for the three wishes thing. Or at least I can tell why I gave her a pass. Yeah the way she uses them is stupid. If she uses them on Tywin and the Mountain, she essentially ends the war. But, for me I don't really hold it against her because she realizes her mistake and acknowledges how stupid it was and learns from it and tries to make up for it with the weasel soup. kimim
I won't do Dany or the characters introduced in the last two books, as that's all I do. So first three books: NED. Why oh why does he insist on believing himself to be superior to anyone who is not of the North? Why won't he make alliances? Why does he trust Littlefinger? Why won't he speak with Sansa? Why does he warn Cersei? Why does he send his men off, leaving himself unprotected? Why doesn't he communicate with Robert??? Why why why, Ned? Ned's my favorite character, yet he also makes me want to tear my hair out. I guess Ned's less annoying than frustrating, and it's all perfect. Robb. Told from Cat's pov, the kid is doomed. He combines short-term strategic brilliance with zero sense for long-term consequences. Another tear your hair out character, brilliantly written. Ser Tristan Flowers
Catelyn to me is beyond annoying. As if her idiocy and ignorance wasn´t bad enough already, her over the top arrogance seals it for me. Cersei is a close second, I actually think they´re very similar in some ways. I think Edmure gets a bad wrap, he´s a genuinely nice guy and perfectly suited as the Tully/Stark punching bag. The battle of the fords is Robbs fault, Edmure is merely a scapegoat. He never gets a chance or any respect, and Catelyns dismissive attitude towards him propably has a lot to do with it.

But he only saves maidens and seldom pushes children out of towers to improve their health.
lujo
Spoiler I kind of see many of the characters as bitter parodies, or sendups of characters and stereotypes GRRM might have been annoyed with. Some people say deconstructions, but that's a bit too generous. Sometimes it's quite tasteless, and feels like what Freys did to Robb and his wolf's corpse. Especially what he does to Lois McMaster Bujold stuff. You'd think he was very annoyed at her personally for some reason. This makes Catelyn hard to swallow for me. Catelyn is basically a parody of Cordelia Naismith (or Jessica Atreides, but my money is on Cordelia), except what he does to that sort of character makes it unreadable. Sure, Cat is a more realistic incarnation of that, but less interesting. Yes Miles' mom is an infallible wishful thinking autor avatar, making her a fool subverts expectations, but makes the story into a farce about an annoying fool. It's like anti-fan-fiction about a character that loses it's literary appeal once you take her out of context (and genre). This makes rereading the books a big pain especially when you know how utterly nowhere it is all going. I also found Tyrion pretty lame for the same reason, he's not a deconstruction of Miles VorKosigan, he's Miles VorKosigan. He even recruits a bunch of mercenaries in the mountains on the way back to his family and his first assignment was being in charge of the drains, just in case someone thought it was a coincidence. Problem is - I've read the VorKosigan books, and whenever I see Tyrion I see a petty writer viciously vandalizing somebody else's character. And all the "dwarves in fantasy are a ridiculous concept" bits are also annoying. The biggest problem is that what's fun and popular about the character IS that he's Miles, what Martin did to him takes away from the character rather than adds to it. So he straddles the line between anti-fan-fiction and, well, IP theft, tbh. If I was a judge, and when GoT came out Lois sued George, George would've at the very least payed a fine. But the biggest annoyance of all, to me, is Ramsay. He's just a huge one-dimensional, nauseating plot tumor. If it somehow turns out he isn't - too much writing time, too many pages wasted. He feels like a satire of darker chick-lit or pornography or horror, but there isn't enough substance in that to satirize it. Ramsay could've been anyone at all, other than a sick a bastard, or even in addition to it, but he truly was... No one. In short Cat, Tyrion and Ramsay in that order. Kalin Milushev
Absolutely the most annoying character is Danny. I got so fed up with her that after the first book i started skipping her chapters and had to force myself to read them later and it took me like a month after i read the other parts of the book. I personally liked Ned as a person but his character was so dumb it was painful to read at some points. Every person with the name Tully (most notably Lysa) was also pretty annoying. Jon was generally a nice character except the parts with Ygritte. I mean seriously i know you are 15 years old but you can't be so delusional about women.
