The Dreadfort

Recommended Posts

We slightly touched on the potential of new houses being created after the Battle of the Bastards. Now that I've thought about it, I see each of the open castles being used as bases for the pending WW attack. I doubt they actually give the houses to families when they could be used as fortification for the entirety of the man army.

theres potentially thousands of stark-household women being held there (maybe old nan).

seems like in the show maybe they just slaughtered them all when the bastard took it

Rodrik's daughter is also there, if Ramsay hasn't hunter her yet.

Books since House Thenn has Karhold, I imagine Dreadfort will go to Tormund, unless any Umber bastard or Mormont lover theories are true.

Show, House Giantsbane gets Last Hearth, House Seaworth gets Karhold, and if Jon is declared Stark, House Stark via Sansa gets the Dreadfort.

I can see House Giantsbne in Last Hearth, fitting since their sigil was a giant in chains.

House Seaworth in Karhold... Wouldn't he change the name, since Karhold seems to specifically refer to the Karstarks? Maybe Seahold?

If Sansa goes to the Dreadfort, might she be able to start another branch of the Staks, like the Karstarks and Greystarks were, if she could find someone willing to take on the Stark name?

Additionally, when everyone finds out Bran is alive, how does this change things?

Karstark is a shortening of "Karhold Starks". The place was Karhold before the Karstarks were Karstarks, and were just the "Karhold Starks".

As for the Dreadfort, if Sansa is in charge of Winterfell, Jon might well get the Dreadfort, and vice versa. Assuming, of course, they keep the Dreadfort intact and inhabited instead of slighting it.

Alternatively, Arya could get the Dreadfort. The Boltons were big on flaying people, Arya trained with the Faceless Men who cut faces off of dead bodies to wear. There might be a collection of faces Arya could use somewhere in the Dreadfort.

As for Bran's return, it will likely depend significantly on when that happens. If Bran's return is known about before Sansa or Jon is declared ruler of Winterfell and the North, Bran resumes his place as the Stark of Winterfell. If it's after, it's complicated, but he'll be welcomed by Jon and Sansa with open arms, and Littlefinger will probably try to kill him or discredit him as a Stark.
