Something very strange about Uncle Benjen

I'm really surprised that the topic of Benjen hasn't come up yet.

So he says he is undead, and very knowledgeable of things that only Bran and the 3ER know (how the WW were made).  He mentions knowing the 3ER, but is that true?  If he knows so much, and knows that Bran was marked by the Night's King (maybe he doesn't, but Bran does), then why does he lead him directly to the wall and abandon him?

Is Uncle Benjen reanimated by the Night's King to lead Bran to the wall, where he will pass and allow the WW and army of the dead to breach?

There is something to Benjen.

I believe in the reveal of undead Benjen he claimed that the children of the forest were the ones who saved him from becoming an undead zombie or something of that sort, that they stopped the magic before it turned him.

I dont think there's some crazy thing where he's actually an agent of the Great Other going on here. He simply cannot pass through the wall, which is where Bran would be safest, and that's why he leaves him.

Well there's no horn, so something has to bring the Wall down, and I think it will be Bran. It could be that Benjen just didn't realize what will happen (and obviously Bran and Meera don't), but I think its more likely he does serve the Nights King.

The Horn is already at the wall.  The horn was in the bundle with the dragon glass that Sam, Grenn and Edd found at the Fist of the First Men, in season 2 episode 8.  In the books, Jon found the bundle.

Yeah, Benjen is in league with the Night's King. Makes perfect sense. Not.

Benjen knows some things that we do not. He left Bran and Meera so they can cross the Wall, because he can't. Simple as that.  If he was in league with the NK, Bran would be dead. Or better yet, the NK wouldn't have needed to attack the cave, and then send more wights after him. Stop imagining things.

I'm confused by this thread.

That entire scene seemed pretty straight forward to me.

He saved them earlier.  He brought them as far as he could go because he cannot pass.  He left them and wished them good fortune.

^This exactly.

I also thought it was weird he wouldn't bring them closer to a passage through the wall, like the tunnel of caster black, but bran prolly wanted to do some weirwood watching and I'm just assuming that's the one flies by castle black, where the NW brothers can swear their oath. One does wonder what he's been up to out there for years but doubt it's anything mischievous.

So, if the Night King is still the enemy of Benjin and Bran, why didn't he chase them to the wall with zombies? As far as I know Bran and Meera are the only living humans North of the Wall now - everyone else has gone south.

Either the Night King is waiting for Bran to cross the wall so he can, or the Night King is on team Bran and Bran doesn't know it yet.

I don't think the night king is the only force in the north! The scene from book when we first meet others don't describe ww exactly!not kind at all but not seeping evil either benjenseems to be other than. Maybe cotf maybe something else! Bran the builder negotiated the boundary! Can u see negotiating with ww? I think benjenseems shows up with some other people or non people cotf were losing long before humans came .to whom?so much is lost still in the timeframe. You berely know what ur father did let alone a thousand years of history or many thousand. I thought the scene in old town was provocative in the library with samwell! He found his purpose! With bran they may learn something! There is also the story of the night fort and a female ww! Which we have seen none of! I thought that her kid was roose hence all the flaying

Benjen saved them so that he could betray them... At a later date... Or something. How very ominous and suspicious!

My theory is that he's actually Daario, so he had to leave quickly in order to get ready for his final meeting with Dany.

What if the NK needs Bran across the wall to get across himself with his army?

IF that is the case, it would be perfectly logical to have Benjen show up just in time to "save" them from the wights to earn their trust, escort them to the wall, and then send them that way.

Is this how it is?  Maybe, maybe not.  There is no way to know at this time, but the convenient timing for him showing up (after being absent for SOOOO long) without word to anyone in the Watch for nearly 5 seasons is quite suspicious to me.  Trust this re-animated corpse all you want, I simply do not.

Imagining things is fun, BTW.
