I just edited the first post for the main title... wow, that was from 2016.  I had forgotten how long ago it was.  So many changes over these three years.

Saw a teaser during football tonight saying we will get a trailer on Wednesday.

Thats my 10th wedding anniversary... guessing my wife won’t see that nearly as awesome a gift as I do.  :dunno:

Normally I'd be excited but I'm 1) still disappointed in Spectre and 2) not sure Craig's story should be continued given the culmination of his character arc.

I'll probably still see it though.

Both of those are valid.  Its my issue with the continuing story of the Craig Bond.  They made the essential reboot an essential part of his story, had one direct sequel... and then all of a sudden he's old and beaten down and has mementos from the previous twenty movies.  :dunno:  And worse than that, they go back and retcon everything and make it all one plot when that wasn't the case to begin with.

I feel like whatever direction they go with this one, the next Bond needs to lean into the tradition of one off adventures with small nods to previous films.

With Lea Seydoux returning i don’t think this approach is too likely. Her character sticking around almost necessitates a “continuation” film rather than a one off adventure

I figure this one will be a continuation... but I don't have very high hopes for Ms. Seydoux's character having a "they lived happily ever after" moment.  I think she's more likely to go the way of Tracy Draco.

Yeah my first thought was that they were going to kill her off and replace her with Ana de Armas as the love interest in typical Bond movie fashion. But that just seems too obvious..

Edit: I do find it interesting that Pheobe Waller-Bridge co-wrote the screenplay.

Just watched the trailer. And indeed, it had the now obligatory young, sassy female upstaging and probably being set up to replace the longstanding, veteran hero.

Did they learn nothing from the Star Wars fiasco?

Think I’ll give this one a skip - but then, Bond has been way too flawed and emotionally vulnerable since Craig took over anyway. Time for him to die indeed.

Could be fun, but then the past few Bonds would suggest it won’t be. The stories all just blur into one now, so why do they keep trying to tell some sort of long form narrative?
Bond has ceased to be an interesting character anyway,  I’m not even sure how you would define him now? Grouchy and out of date? That’s pretty much all they keep saying in these movies.

The highlight was machine gun headlights.. the low light was someone actually said ‘stay in your lane’

There's at least three women in major roles in this manly man's movie here so stands to reason HoI doesn't like the look of it.

I'm unconvinced by Blofeld being in it being how terrible he was in the last one but hopefully it's mostly a bit part, other than that it looks fun.

Since it is a a Daniel Craig Bond film they don’t have much choice other than to continue with the theme of Bond being old and out of touch and grasping after somebody to love.

Trailer looks fine, a lot more interesting than the Black Widow one.  I have no problem with Bond being upstaged or even replaced by a female agent but the sassiness and the bickering between them is tiring.  It’s lazy writing.  Hopefully that’s just a trailer thing though.

It’s a problem they have created for themselves since Casino Royale and haven’t managed to solve it with each movie. Him going from rough around the edges rookie  to out of touch relic of the past within about 5 minutes has been a big mis step. There isn’t any progression because they keep placing Bond at the end of his career. All the talk of being in the wrong time is dull as well.

The worst part is that Tom Cruise has been doing these movies better for years.
