Watch, Watched, Watching: The San Diego Sneak Preview Version

And I'm now out of Blade Runner versions as thread titles (because I will not start a thread for the US Broadcast version).

Right this moment I'm watching Sunday's episode of The Strain.  This show is so awful, hands down the worst thing I'm currently watching.  That damn kid.  Why is he still a character?  Hopefully he'll get turned at some point and we can get the satisfaction of watching him get decapitated.

After Luke Cage disappointed me I wanted to rewatch season 2 of Daredevil, but I decided to rewatch the first season too. I'm 3/4 through the first.

I watched The Siege of Jadotville and Legend this weekend. Enjoyed both, especially Hardy's portrayal of Ronnie Kray. The only issue I had with The Siege of Jadotville was the rather rushed ending, not letting it really sink in. The rest was well done.

Magnificent Century. Loving it! Streaming on Netflix for endless numbers of episodes.  Turkish telenovella, that kept everyone in watching each night an episode aired. In Turkey it ran from 2011 - 2014. Gotten through 4 episodes so far.  I hesitate to say it will appeal to anyone who like Marco Polo, but I love Marco, and I love this too. It's also very interesting to see certain events from the pov of the Ottomans.  It's kind and sympathetic to the the Christian in the center of the events, which might surprise  those who don't believe that Muslims can be tolerant. OTOH, it's women and their hair does look kind of ridiculous. And really, surely, Alexandra wasn't that stupid historically, otherwise she wouldn't have survived.  She had to be very very very smart, not to mention socially brilliant.

Beautiful textiles and jewels.  Women hatin' on each other like, well, you know -- it's the harem and queens and wives and whose son is going to get to be the padishah.

16th century!  All my 16th century stuff!  Including Russia and Turkey!  And hopefully we're going to get France and England too!

This New Yorker article from 2014 will provide more info.

And now -- I'm going to have to interrupt this Romance History and watch the so-called 'debate' -- another enactment of our national shame.

@Zorral You sold me on Magnificent Century. I'm adding it to my queue and will check it out soon.

I just finished a very fun documentary called For the Love of Spock, which is all about Leonard Nimoy, and not surprisingly, his most famous character, Mr. Spock. Nimoy's son directed it, so it has this great mix of reverence, affection, and humor. They have footage from all the shows and films not to mention interviews with many of the surviving cast members of TOS as well as some from the new cast. This is a can't miss for any Trek fan!

im watching jessica jones and I LOVE IT im not a huge marvel fan so ive been putting it off but this show is excellent

It's great isn't it? It's my favourite of the Marvel Netflix shows (all of which are way better than the films IMO, so you should try the others if you haven't had a chance yet).

I realised today that Season 3 of The Americans is now available on Prime so I've started that (yeah I know that's not the most recent one). Also started Hannibal, and given the general opinion that season one is poorer quality, I think I should enjoy this, since I already love it

Does anyone ever find it odd that like no one on TV owns a dog?  I mean, I get that it's likely for production reasons, as having a dog around constantly to fuck up editing continuity would be a pain in the ass.  It just seems really strange to me because basically everyone I know owns a dog and Charlotte is basically dog central.  The fuckers are everywhere.  Yet the only TV show I can think of where a dog is regularly seen is the Frenchie on Modern Family, and I guess Ramsay's dogs on Game of Thrones, although they were less pets and more murderous hellhounds.

Just a random observation, but it's one that I can't help but think of from time to time, probably because dogs are just part of the culture in Charlotte and are goddamn everywhere.

Now that you mention it, the only one I can think of atm is Cinnamon  (Raj's dog) on TBBT. And I watch a lot of shows.

Also people don't spend nearly enough time watching porn to be realistic.

I was thinking EXACTLY this the other day...and how it'd be nice to have a show with a main character who has a dog and basicslly hangs out with their dog a lot and takes them most places when they can because dogs are great

I've watched 2/3 of the Amanda Knox doc on Netflix.  It's mildly entertaining and provides a lot of commentary from Knox and her clueless boyfriend. Worth a watch if you're into that stuff.

Also watched the first 3 eps of American Horror Story this season. Not a bad watch so far, and I'll keep watching for the time being.  It's something to watch on a Wednesday night.  I've never made it through a whole season of AHS.  There's always the episode that makes me tap out and leave the season stranded.  I'm not there yet, and actually don't even see that point in the horizon so hopefully I get through it.

Isn't the documentary the one that they showed on The Big Bang Theory? His son and Will Wheaton interviewed Sheldon in the episode for it?

Finished now but Champion on Parks and Rec was another. It's a really good point though, I'm going to be trying to think of other shows all night now

Another tv dog is Eddie, from Frasier

There are a handful here and there, sure.  I remember the dog from Married With Children too.  Still, the vast majority of people/families on TV do not have or do not appear to have dogs, and that just seems...off...to me.
