White Lion
Okay, so back in the old days, when I was still actively MUSHing, I'd post this kind of ridiculousness on an in-game Public board. But now I'm pseudo-semi-active and we have this cool forum, with emoticons and HTML and crap, so I thought I'd use this instead. Essentially I just wanted a place for non-essential stuff. And my first crack at it will be to ask the totally superfluous question: What's your character's theme song? You know, the song that fades in when your character comes onscreen in the movie version of BoD. I thought about arbitrarily making up my own choices for everyone else (You know, Sarmion has 'Fascination Street' or some such), and getting a quick laugh, but you never know how folks will respond to that.... Anyway, Jaesin would have two, the instrumental ("Your Hand In Mine, w/strings" by Explosions In The Sky) and the pop song ("Out of Routine", by Idlewild). Now maybe you're not all poptune obsessives like me, but I know that at least some of you lads are and I'm looking for responses. JL.
Ser Daven Lannister
It should be fairly obvious, but: Cigarettes & Alcohol, Oasis
Linda
Ohh ... good question. I think I could come up with excellent fits for all of my old characters, but I not sure I have a good enough grasp on Aisling yet. Purely from a concept point of view, I think it might be Bonnie Tyler's 'Holding out for a Hero'. I just have to keep from thinking of the movie. Or possibly Mylene Farmer's Desenchantee. But give it a year or two and I will no doubt have something more messed up. Preferably something by the Pet Shop Boys.
Jewel of the Eyrie
I'll take a shot at posting a mini-soundtrack. Let's see... Introduction: "Scars of Time" (Instrumental) from the Chrono Cross Soundtrack Journeying Out of the Eyrie (and all the shenanigans in between): "Highway to Hell" (Vocal) by AC/DC *above includes montages of flying squirrels and chipmunk sailors. See: 'Skipping to the Good Parts'* The 'Good Morning' Song: "Memory of Fanelia" (Instrumental) from the Escaflowne Soundtrack, Yokko Kanno and the Warsaw Philharmonic The 'Getting Into Trouble And All Sorts Of Miscellaneous Shenanigans' Song: "Wing-Stock" (Instrumental) by Ashley MacIsaac The 'Random Solar Performance' Song: "Fires At Midnight" (Vocal) by Blackmore's Night Carmella and Jyana (The 'Friendship Song'): "Friends of Mine" (Vocal) by Bowling for Soup The Obligatory Emo Song: "Away From Me" (Vocal) by Evanescence The Obligatory 'Teenager In Love' Song: (Actually I just needed an excuse to put this song in since it's fun and a 'commute to work' favorite ) "Accidentally In Love" (Vocal) by Counting Crows, from the Shrek 2 Soundtrack ...uh and I draw a blank. But that should be enough for now.
The Dark Griffin
I have three. "On Your Own" by The Verve, "Run" by Snow Patrol, and "High and Dry" by Radiohead. Don't ask me why, I just think these fit. And I think we should definitely choose songs for other peoples' characters. All in good fun, of course. Don't ask me why, I just think these fit. And I think we should definitely choose songs for other peoples' characters. All in good fun, of course. Excellent! I'll think of something besides the obligatory Cure homage for Sarmion soon. Meanwhile, these responses are quite interesting (and I'm trying to remember how that Verve song of Almer's goes) and resultantly, more songs for Jaesin continue popping to mind. A sampling: "Country House" (Blur, pop) for his inevitable return to the Rock when KL gets too crazy; "Shoot You Down" (Stone Roses, pop) as he ruminates on his family's many enemies.. like, say, Dagur Saltcliffe; "A Good Lighter" (Bear McCreary, instrumental) for the inevitable fence-mending scene with Jonn-- anyone who watches the new Battlestar Galactica will recognize this as the Adama/Apollo theme; "Am I Wrong" (Love Spit Love, pop) for the journey home from Dorne; "Sedona" (Monaco, pop/dance instrumental) for the fall of Sunspear. I'm sure I'll come up with more.
Jewel of the Eyrie
"Am I Wrong" (Love Spit Love, pop) for the journey home from Dorne; Jesus, I haven't heard that song since I bought the Angus movie soundtrack back in high school (and hey, don't make fun, it's a crappy movie, but the soundtrack rocks). Let's see... Definitely "Elephant Love Medley" (Moulin Rouge) for Doran and Lanei. "We should be lovers!/ We can't do that!/ We should be lovers! And that's a fact!" The Women (Carmella, Elanna, Jyana most especially): "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" by Paula Cole - they KNOW why. Elanna's Attempted Kidnapping: "Welcome to Skullcrusher Mountain" by Jonathan Coulton Welcome to my secret lair on Skullcrusher Mountain I hope that you’ve enjoyed your stay so far I see you’ve met my assistant Scarface His appearance is quite disturbing But I assure you he’s harmless enough He’s a sweetheart, calls me master And he has a way of finding pretty things and bringing them to me ....hm, maybe this would've been more fitting for Littlefinger. Jonn Lannister: "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon. You know I love you, Jonn. More later. Back to work!
Selene
Okay, keeping with the completely amusing ones for other people (as I haven't found any for me yet) I was going through my music on my laptop and found this one. For Jyana and Jaesin: Where Were You (On Our Wedding Day?) by Billy Joel.

White Lion
Okay, keeping with the completely amusing ones for other people (as I haven't found any for me yet) I was going through my music on my laptop and found this one. For Jyana and Jaesin: Where Were You (On Our Wedding Day?) by Billy Joel. Gads! I try so hard to remain uninvolved in these things and I still get dragged in? This may call for even more drastic measures in regard to enforcing Jaesin's celibacy. "It's Raining Men," anyone? Anyways, I have a few for my friends and acquaintances: For the Gallagher... er, Lannister Brothers-- "Acquiesce" by Oasis -- a hard-rockin' song about brotherhood. For Ser Bryce Caron: "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" by The Offspring. For Sarmion Stormbreaker: "The Mighty Quinn" by Manfred Mann For Doran Dondarrion: "Dry Your Eyes" by The Streets ...and for Almer and Reyna-- "So Hard" by Nymeria's beloved Pet Shop Boys: I'm always hoping You'll be faithful (but you're not, I suppose) We've both given up smoking 'cos it's fatal so whose matches are those? heh heh heh. Ser Daven Lannister
What Difference Does It Make?, The Smiths -- The lyrics encapsulate the relationship between Jaesin and Jonn. But no more apologies No more, no more apologies Oh, I'm too tired I'm so sick and tired And I'm feeling very sick and ill today But I'm still fond of you, oh-ho-oh You're Lost Little Girl, The Doors -- Jyana Bizarre Love Triangle, New Order -- Almer, Reyna, and Elanna Touch Me, The Doors -- The Jonn and Kellyn love song! Barbarism Starts At Home, The Smiths -- Sarmion and the Dornish hostages That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore, The Smiths -- Jonn and his Many Enemies And yes, I like The Smiths. White Lion
Another batch of songs from Casterly Rock's other obnoxious Lannister: For Elanna Penrose: "The Butterfly Collector" by The Jam For Almer Connington and everyone's favorite NPC, Keira Sand: "Sleazy Bed Track" by the Bluetones For Reyna Rowan: "Bend and Break" by Keane For Almer and Reyna: "Disco 2000" by Pulp (bahahahaha) For Jyana Arryn: "Long Time Coming" by The Delays For Doran Dondarrion: "All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers For everyone who dislikes the Lannisters: "Eton Rifles" by The Jam (and especially this line: We were no match for their untamed wit) And of course, I have a whole catalog for the Lions of the Rock themselves.... For Lira Arryn (Lannister): "Better Man" by Pearl Jam For Jaesin and Mathin Lannister, during those godawful crack-of-dawn training sessions they're so busy with: "Sonho Durado" by Daniel Lanois For Jaesin and Jonn: "Can't Stand Me Now" by The Libertines (if you know this song, you know it makes perfect sense) For Jonn Lannister: "Miserere" by The Gloria Record ...and "Charmless Man" by Blur... I met him in a crowded room where people go to drink away their gloom he sat me down and so began the story of a charmless man Educated the expensive way he knows his claret from his beaujolais I think he'd like to be his brother Jay but then nature didn't make him that way Okay, so the second-last line was a subtle revision to make it thematic, but still... For Jaesin, whenever he's asked to explain his brother's drinking: "An Ugly Fact of Life" by Explosions in the Sky... and with every tournament, "A Bell Will Ring" by Oasis. And yes, I obviously recommend Explosions in the Sky to anyone who likes subtle post-rock music that can speak to you in the absence of words. Or to anyone's who ever wanted to know what the empty, blasted plains of West Texas and New Mexico would sound like if they were notes played on a guitar. -JL

La la la la, la la la la, Oh oh oh oh... Carmella's Dreams of Dorne: "Island In the Sun" by Weezer The Dornish Hostages: "La Vie Boheme" from Rent The Angry Jonn Lannister Song: "Stop The World" by the Riddlin' Kids I'm cookin' up a resurrection I'll serve it to you on a silver plate You don't want a taste of the fantasies that I create I'm walkin' on broken eggshells Tryin' to make some sense of this Tryin' to save face with false appearances Dagur Saltcliffe and the Iron Reavers: "Born to Raise Hell" by Motorhead Poxy Allan Out In Town: "I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today" from Avenue Q I had to, I'm sorry. Jyana Arryn to Jonn Lannister: "The More You Love Someone" from Avenue Q The more you love someone, The more you want to kill ‘em. The more you love someone, The more he make you cry Though you are try For making peace With them and loving, That’s why you love so strong You like to make him die! The Garvys "Leeroy Jenkins" Tyrell Song: "Dare to Be Stupid" by Weird Al Yankovic Put down that chain saw and listen to me. It's time for us to join in the fight. It's time to let your babies grow up to be cowboys. It's time to let the bedbugs bite. You better put all your eggs in one basket. You better count your chickens before they hatch. The Brawl (Jonn Lannister, A Sellsword Named Jain, Rurik Greyjoy and Poxy Alan): "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen Jonn Lannister to Kellyn Crakehall: "Blah Blah Blah" by Rockapella But after we'd begun (after we'd be) I wasn't having fun (wasn't no fun) I fear we may have peaked too soon (baby, we're too) Why you wanna go and do me like you do (do like you, do like you) Why you wanna beat me blue (ahh, do like you) When you talk all I hear is "blah blah blah" ("blah blah", talkin' "blah blah") Baby you got nothin' to say ("blah blah", baby you got nothin' to say) You're makin' sound good and loud now, I can't make it out (ooh, I can't make it) Your lips are workin' fine, but when you talk, "blah blah" ("blah blah") And finally... Stormbreaker
I sort of figured Sarmion's soundtrack would be more like: "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by Smashing Pumpkins "Smack My Bitch Up" by The Prodigy And for my fans... "One Hundred Years" by The Cure
Malkara
Tenacious D's "Wonderboy" for Victor. Of course. Just 'cuz.
Marian Stark
For Marian at the moment, Duran Duran's "Come Undone" would probably be most appropriate. Most of Leonard Cohen's "Everybody Knows" would also fit her current outlook on life. I'll figure out some more when I see how she responds to being around people again, after her period of private mourning...
Serion
And for dear, sweet Serion Uller, I'm going to offer David Gray's Nightblindness: I'm sick of all the same romances Lost chances Cold storms Propping mountains up On matchsticks Dragging baskets Full of bones ... What we gonna do When the money runs out I wish that there was something I could say How we going to find the eyes to see The bright of day?
