Because it came on the radio today and other reasons I just can not explain -

for Kellyn (Because, well, I'll figure out songs for the rest of you when I know you better!):

"Veronica" by Elvis Costello

Well she used to have a carefree mind of her own

and a devilish look in her eye

These days I'm afraid she's not even sure if her

name is Veronica

--

Did the days drag by? Did the favours wane?

Did he roam down the town all the while?

Did you wake from your dream with a wolf at the door

Reaching out for Veronica?

And found today:

"Leaving So Soon" by Keane

Glad to see someone's still reading this forum. Two new songs for Jaesin from my current playlist as well...

El Capitan by Idlewild

A Time For Heroes by The Libertines (more for the title and the super-cool guitar solo than anything in the lyrics)

The Libertines! The world's greatest crappiest garage band. They're so rock 'n roll, or were before the current Babyshambles/Dirty Pretty Things era (although F*** Forever is a cool tune).

Here's one for our Dornish ladies: Cold Hard Bitch by Jet

For Jonn: Alcoholic by Starsailor

For Rurik: Public Pervert by Interpol

For Dagur: Dare by Gorillaz

For Sarmion: My Dead Wife by Absentee

For Jaesin, naturally we have I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor by Arctic Monkeys

And for that notorious tease, Reyna: Do You Want To by Franz Ferdinand.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover

I'm a child, I'm a mother

I'm a sinner, I'm a saint

I do not feel ashamed

I'm your hell, I'm your dream

I'm nothing in between...

I'm a bitch, I'm a tease

I'm a goddess on my knees

When you hurt, when you suffer

I'm your angel undercover...

And you wouldn't want it any other way!

Carmella and Jyana - Fields of Innocence (Evanescence)

I still remember the world

From the eyes of a child

Slowly those feelings

Were clouded by what I know now

Where has my heart gone

An uneven trade for the real world

I want to go back to

Believing in everything and knowing nothing at all

Reyna Tyrell, in light of recent events - How Could This Happen to Me? (Simple Plan)

Everybody’s screaming

I try to make a sound but no one hears me

I’m slipping off the edge

I’m hanging by a thread

I wanna start this over again

So I try to hold

On to a time when

Nothing mattered

And I can’t explain

What happened and I can’t erase the things that I’ve done

Jyana, when Jaesin dies - Rest of My Life (Less than Jake)

And every second that goes by

I'm screaming out for a second try

Said goodbye, to my best friend

Sometimes there's no one left to tell you the truth

It's gonna kill me: The rest of my life

Let me apologize while I'm still alive

I know it's hard to face all of my past mistakes

I've got to live with them the rest of my life

Touching, but pointless. Lannisters don't die.

Well think about it, when he does? You're next in line.

Actually, no. Jonn and I will die at the same time in the same place, leavinf Damon as the heir to Casterly Rock. I have it all planned out; it'll go down something like this.

Since the Dornish army consists of Aidan Dayne (good) and several thousand spear-throwing sheep-lovers (not so good), the Martells are going to increase their chances by bringing a Dothraki horde across the Narrow Sea. The horde will land at the Tor.

Jonn and I will meet them in the narrows of the Prince's Pass at the head of 300 Westermen. In an orgy of special effects, bad acting, superfluous sex scenes with our nubile camp followers and the best cucumber sauce this side of the Athens Olympics, we will hold off the Dothraki at the cost of our own lives. From this point, King Daeron will move to crush the Dornish rebellion heartlessly.

One last Dornish rebel, possibly Jossart Vaith, will hear the voice of his dead mentor in his head and get the idea that he can blow up the entire Red Keep by chucking a single burning spear through a simple exhaust port... er chimney. He'll buy it, because Carmella will have died to bring him the plans that detail this apparent structural flaw.

Unfortunately for Vaith and his cronies, the "structural flaw" will turn out to be a stain left on the blueprints by an "accident" the Black Dread had as a wee little dragon. The flaming spear will putter out, Dagur Saltcliffe will castrate Jossart (as the climactic chapter in his years-long search for a suitable wife) and the Lannisters will go down in history as the heroes who made it all possible.

THE END.

(As a footnote, the heroism of Ser Jonn and Ser Jaesin will cause the 3000 Unsullied eunuchs of Qohor to be relegated to a place in the history books that is somewhat akin to Babe Ruth's 60-HR season in 1927-- a nice story, but no longer relevant statistically.)

TIME FOR MORE SONG LYRICS.

Those of you who've known me for a long time often ask me what I'm listening to these days, musically. This is probably because I used to be cool and in touch with the pop music scene, neither of which is even remotely true anymore-- but I do still listen to music. And lately it's been the STONE ROSES making a comeback on my iPod. (Love the iPod, love having my whole CD collection at my fingertips, if you're a current or former music obsessive you NEED one.)

And thus, a speculative look at Jaesin's take on the Roses and his acquaintances at BoD. I'm sure I'll edit this later with more....

To Rurik Greyjoy: "Shoot You Down"

You know it, you've shown it

and the time has come

to shoot you down

what a sound

when the day is done, and it all walks out--

I'd love to do it and you know you've always had it coming.

To Jonn Lannister: "Set My Baby Free" (Ian Brown solo)

Came upon a man in tune with his libido

took another's wife to help him get to sleep so

you never know

couldn't get away couldn't ever get it anyway

couldn't ever level cos he's livin like a devil hey

when she turns to smile

a light shone from inside

walking miles, and you aint got

nobody by your side....

To Jossart Vaith: "Bye Bye Badman"

Here he comes

Got no question got no love

I'm throwing stones at you man

I want you black and blue and

I'm gonna make you bleed

Gonna bring you down to your knees

Bye bye badman

Bye bye

To Princess Daena Targaryen: "(Song for My) Sugar-Spun Sister"

How's that? A song dedication to a non-player character!

Her hair

Is soft drifted snow

Death white

I want to know

Why she hates

All that she does

But she gives

It all that she's got

To Jyana Arryn: "Waterfall"

Chimes sing Sunday morn

Todays the day she's sworn

To steal what she never could own

And race from this hole she calls home

Now you're at the wheel

Tell me how, how does it feel?

So good to have equalized

To lift up the lids of your eyes...

To Reyna TYRELL: "Blinded by the Sun" (Seahorses i.e. John Squire solo with a crummy backing band)

You're wasting your time

and my time as well, la la la

living a lie, I guess that

time will tell

You're making excuses

for the things you've never done

Walking in circles

blinded by the sun

Bringin' Haiku since 2002

Rather than keep hammering the usual suspects, I thought I'd compose a few haiku for other people I've only met recently, encountered seldom, or not at all (yet). This ought to get me in trouble. Sound good? Good! Remember, I love you all.

Aidan Dayne

The pride of Starfall

Great with a lance, it would seem,

Too bad he's so meek.

Jossart Vaith

A true mack daddy

Hot-blooded, making them swoon

Yeah, he'll be toast. Soon.

Aisling Ryswell

Magical girl,

She has no time for dumb boys.

Loves horses. A LOT.

Kellyn Lannister

Poor kid. Marriage sucks.

The saddest part, though, is this:

She could kick his ass.

Carmella Dondarrion

My bro's always sad.

So am I Dornish, or what?

Make up your mind, girl!

Damarya Allyrion

She's bat-shit crazy,

And not afraid to show it.

What a lovely eye.

Aurana Buckler

Cute as a button

Bringing passive-aggressive

To a new level

:grouphug:
