kairparavel
I am! It's practically outside my front door. (I may be exaggerating slightly). But yeah, I'm in.
Xray the Enforcer
I'm seriously considering this -- have to check the publishing schedule. So yeah, pencil me in.
kairparavel
There's been some dissent in the MD organizing group and one of the organizers resigned today. I feel they had some valid reasons. If you are planning on attending make sure you link up with your state group and keep aware of the organization as it happens. https://m.facebook.com/events/341097069582883?view=permalink&id=344002255959031 https://m.facebook.com/events/2169332969958991?view=permalink&id=2173596749532613
DaveAx
If you want to travel to DC with a group, here's a good way to start:http://rallybus.net/Booking/Event/womens-march-on-washington Note that this also effectively offers an option for long-distance travellers to avoid the DC airports by landing somewhere else. Lily Valley
Ok, we have secured a room in Gaithersburg. I don't mind shoe-horning as many of y'all as I can in there. Thanks Kair, found our local chapter. I'm looking into the bus Dave, I know there are others travelling from NOLA. The hotel was the biggest hurdle. They were literally selling out as we booked. I'm about an hour and a half away, but there is a bus from up here too.

kairparavel
WHAT IS THE STATUS OF THE PERMITTING PROCESS FOR THE MARCH? A task force of agencies have approved the location of the Women's March on Washington, at Independence Ave and Third St SW, Washington, D.C., beginning at 10:00am on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Securing and then announcing a location for the WMW means we've overcome the biggest hurdles in the permit process. We will continue to work closely with all of the relevant police entities, over the coming weeks, to ensure a safe march with all logistics in place to accommodate the number of people we anticipate convening. For security reasons, we will not release any further details about the march route until a later date. https://www.womensmarch.com/faq/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With that out of the way, some reading: http://www.brittanytoliver.com/blog/2016/11/16/why-i-do-not-support-the-one-million-women-march-on-washington http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/women-march-on-washington-organizers_us_58407ee8e4b017f37fe388d1 https://medium.com/@PghRCampos/in-defense-of-dissent-a-critique-of-the-womens-march-on-washington-4e31344fb5c1#.apoz5dghe I'm not sure what to feel about all this right now. But it's starting a few blocks from Chez Mercenary, so it's not like I have big travel decisions to make. I'm not sure how I feel about the registration section at the women's march page - to help confirm numbers? I doubt it'll ever reflect an accurate total. DaveAx
Those coming from out of town may want to purchase their DC Metro passes in advance from their website:https://www.wmata.com/fares/farecard-options.cfm
Fez
Stay safe ya'll and I hope it goes well. Personally, I'm getting the hell out of town that Thursday night and not coming back until Monday morning. Going out to a cabin with friends, ignoring the world, and pretending for at least a couple extra days that everything is still alright.
kairparavel
Marchers, know your rights. This is specific to Inauguration Weekend in DC but the ACLU has Justice Apps for various states. https://www.acludc.org/demonstrate
Lany Freelove Cassandra
Looks like we will be having nice weather on Saturday - mid-50's partly cloudy I downloaded that app as well as the metro's app. If anyone wants to try and meet up, hit me up on facebook or text me. PM me if you need my name/number. They also adjusted the rules, so you can bring a clear backpack/bag. I got one from a company called Stadium Bags. NEWS: The Metro has extended hours and added extra trains for Saturday. https://www.wmata.com/about/news/Womens-March-Service.cfm
