So far, the rumor mill on undrafted free agents is that the Cowboys are pulling in another haul. With this draft plus 2 high draft picks from last year coming on who spent the year on IR, this defense is going to be formidable I think. If the unit can gel this year, Dallas is going to be a force next season...

Wait, aren't they predicted to be a force every year? Especially on ESPN, they HAVE to say that Da Boys' are coming out of the NFC. Every year for the last 10 years, its gonna be their year.

Kind of shocked K.D. Cannon wasn't drafted. Dude ran 4.41 and posted a 37 inch vertical. And Baylor receivers have produced well in the pros. I mean I get he has some warts, but the idea that strong measurables plus solid college production and you don't even get drafted is a bit of a head scratcher.

Every article I've read is that Baylor WR's are suspect because when they're not on the side of a play that is being run, they essentially get that play off. They have no blocking assignment, etc, etc. And supposedly Cannon is a terrible blocker.

I don't predict them to be a force every year. My analysis this year is that all of the pieces in place on the defense can very easily make this a top notch group if they can gel. With a defense better than average, and an offense that is top in the league, This team could be scary.

Oh I wasn't meaning that you predict them to be every year. Yea, they're gonna be a good team this year. I was just pointing out that some talking head predicts the Cowboys to be the team every year.

Tougher schedule this year as well - more on the passing side than running. They should be fine if the running game is as consistent, efficient, and dynamic as last year, but that was a near historic season last year with two rookies.

I am with you. I expect them to be a better team but have a worse record, and there is a chance they go 8-8 if some of the hopes and dreams don't pan out.

There are a lot of what ifs...what if  Sean Lee gets hurt again, what if L'eal (?) Collins isn't as good on the off line as we thought he would be, what if Witten finally shows he is mortal, what if Jaylon Smith doesn't recover....  All of those plus, what if the db's they drafted don't pan out.. There are more legitimately concerning what ifs than I am comfortable with.

Sean Lee - I hope he stays healthy, but the Cowboys have a top notch linebacking corp behind him. This is the one position on the team that could stand the loss of an all star player with the least significance to overall performance.

L'eal Collins - He isn't as good as Ron Leary yet, but he already had beaten him out for the job. As is, if he doesn't progress any, he is a far above average guard. I am willing to bet he becomes the super star he has the potential for, and if he is just above average, then Dallas still has the three best offensive lineman in the NFL on the line. I worry a little more about replacing Doug Free at RT that Collins performance.

Jason Witten - Mortal? That man is doing all he can to hide his cape everywhere he goes.

Jaylon Smith - The big mystery is over. His nerve has fired and he has movement in his feet and toes. He is out of the brace and will be practicing this offseason and training camp. Teammates have reported his workouts as jaw dropping.

There are some concerns of mine at a few positions, but they mainly focus on whether Prescot and Elliot experience a sophomore slump.

I'm sure they're awful blockers, but their previous guys have done well in the NFL. Terrence Williams, Josh Gordon, Kendall Wright, Corey Coleman.

Damn near every Cowboys fan hates Terrance Williams and is disappointed the Cowboys resigned him.  Wright's been meh.  Gordon was elite but had off field problems.  Coleman is still an unknown thanks to injuries.

You might not like Terrance Williams as a #2 receiver, which I don't really have an opinion on, but he has been significantly better than what you can reasonably hope to get out of a 3rd round draft pick at the position. Gordon is a great player, with the obvious off the field stuff. Coleman got hurt but has already proven he can play in the NFL. Kendall Wright has underperformed his first round draft status, but is still a valuable NFL receiver.

I expect just about every 3rd round pick (QB excepted) to be capable starters at worst after a couple years. If they're not, I consider them busts (short of being taken as a specific type of specialist like a 3rd down only pass rushing demon or a reliable backup QB).   Given that Williams is directly responsible for stopping comeback attempts in multiple losses over the past few years. His upside is bigger than slightly above JAG depth, but he doesn't really provide anything to the team.

There are a few gems in the third round, like Emmanuel Sanders and Eric Decker, but overall Terrence Williams is way above average. And I promise you, if you had followed the Rams or Eagles for the past few years like I have, you would never take a Terrence Williams for granted again lol.

Guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. No one's willing to roll the dice with NO1CURR?

Probably no one was willing to pay him at a level commensurate with being Mr Laguna Beach. All that anti-vaxx advocacy and lifestyle blogging comes with a price tag.

It's a push then, @Pony Queen Jace. Part of me considered choosing retirement instead of the 49ers in our bet, but I figured there would be at least one bad team willing to throw some money his way and that's not a good way for his career to end. I guess that wasn't the case.

Also, who really wants to see Jay freaking Cutler in a booth or on a studio set? Doesn't Fox know that everyone hates him?

I've seen a bunch of posts from Bears fans claiming that he's hilarious in post-game pressers. I'm not sure if they mean ironically or intentionally, but now I'm curious.
