I saw a rumored potential three-way trade that included the Knicks where the Cavs parted with Love, but ended up with George and Melo.  That would make them much better.

Supposedly the Cavs are also planning to make a run at Bosh if he can find a doctor to clear him.

ETA: And I just saw Mark Stein tweet that the Cavs are working on a trade for Butler too (I assume this would be instead of George).  Lot of crazy shit going on right now.

Honestly I don't think the Cavs need to break up the Big 3. They just need to not have a god awful bench littered with dudes 10 years past their prime.

Eh...I think trading Love and bringing back George and Melo would be a substantial upgrade.

Still holding to the thought that Ball will be a bust. I just have never seen where he is a next level NBA player. Now, by bust in mean he will not be a All-Star caliber player. Because, that's what everyone is holding him up to, a franchise changing player. I don't think he is, for various reasons.

Seems kind of harsh to root for him to be a bust because of his dad. He actually seems like a good kid. Check out this commercial.:

True, but I'm skeptical that they can pull it off. If the Cavs want to get crazy with trades they have to trade Kyrie for Butler or George and trade TT for Chris Paul (assuming Paul goes to manage and says he's leaving so that they can get something in return, or work out some kind of three way trade).

Shouldn't we throw in Bogdonovich too?  He's been eating up valuable minutes that could otherwise be allocated to whatever random athletic looking guys can be found wandering around the Verizon Center before tipoff.

Even though I love Bojan's absurd game centered on an eternal heat check that precludes the possibility he'll ever play defense, I'd do it. Call us, Indiana, we're that serious.

And just to clarify, please don't take this as sarcasm. I'm being completely sincere here. Listening to you and @Jaime L breakdown the Wiz is one of my guilty pleasures here.

Hah, thanks Manhole. I'm biased but I think the Wizards are a fun team. Glad a non-Wizards fan agrees.

One day they might actually even be a relevant team. Or would be if Ian Mahimni's contract didn't prevent all potential avenues for this team to improve which is such a fucking shame with all kinds of intriguing players available this summer and next. Because as we all know,  if the prom queen (KD) and another hottie (Horford) turn you down, obviously the next best thing to do is knock up the lunch lady.

I'm not rooting for him to be trash because of his dad...where did I say that? I've maintained throughout the year that I didn't believe/see where he was all that everyone said he was.

Any of you listen to the Simmons podcast that posted today?

Haven't finished it yet, but it seems like Simmons thinks this draft swap might be a lead in to a bigger move. Like perhaps Jae Crowder and the #3 pick for Jimmy Butler. Hmmmm.

Just seen Cavs are in talks for a three team trade for Butler, also. Looks like Love is the only name coming up. Indiana has already packaged a 3 team deal for George, but Cavs must want to take a run at Butler first. I think George is more of the player you need if your giving up Love. Butler is definitely of the same mold though.

There is no doubt they made the swap to make another trade. That pick is going to end up being the Kings #9 overall pick in 2019. They don't need that, it's nothing but a trade asset.

Also, apparently Iguodala not going to take a paycut. That's kind of shocking to me, although I'm sure another ring chaser will take his spot.

I hear the thing holding up George to the Cavs is that they want more than just Love.

Not surprised at all. Two rings and a Finals MVP? This guy took a backseat when they asked him and has been key to this team's success. He's earned a payday, and this is going to be his last big one. And there will be a team that gives it to him. He's earned it.

Has nothing to do with "earning" it. Everyone who gets a payday in any league "earned" it. I just figured he would be out for adding more rings at this stage in his career with $150 million in the bank.

By taking a big salary, he's basically guaranteeing that whatever team he's on won't be very good, since his value on the court is nowhere near what he's going to get paid.

What does a third ring get him though?

He won't ever be a Hall of Famer.  He won't ever even be regarded as good as Robert Horry.

All that's left is a payday.

Earned it in the sense that I think the rest of the league understands what he's worth, and a number of teams will throw big money at him. Watch him go to the Clips or the Spurs.

He's significantly better than Robert Horry ever was.  A third ring gets him a third ring.  I don't blame the guy if he'd rather have the money, but I also didn't think he'd care as much since he's banked $150 million and I didn't take him as the type to blow his money.

If you pay him big money you're not going to be a good team. He's a role player at this stage of his career.

I agree that he's better... but will he be remembered as better?

I think he's in a very odd place legacy wise.  He was absolutely the best player on the Warriors, and then just got kind of passed up in the ascendancy of Steph and Klay.

I mean it's not remotely close. Horry was a defensive specialist who was never a very good offensive player but hit some big shots in the playoffs. Andre Iguodala was a multiple time All-star and NBA finals MVP.

He's arguably the best 6th man in the league and averages like 34 minutes a game. That's a pretty damn big role. I doubt he goes to even a mediocre team. He will get paid by a contender.

He doesn't average 34 minutes a game.  He's a role player.  He's a great guy to have on your team. He's not a great to have on your team on a $20 million contract.

SA and CLE can't afford him. Boston doesn't need him. So he's going somewhere middling if he leaves the Warriors.
